A couple years ago I was searching our local Craigslist and Pennswoods.net listing for a utility trailer, and I stumbled on a listing for a "Mighty Mini 12 - 12 inch woodburner" created by a guy up in Elk County PA. Apparently he invented this stove in 2011 and was trying to put them into production. I looked up the guy's YouTube videos, because at one time I was fascinated by the tiny marine wood stoves and hoped to use one in a small cabin some day. I exchanged emails with him at the time, and told him if it is as safe and efficient as he claims he should put a cook top on it and market it to the sailing community as a galley stove, as his price point is less than half as much as the stoves currently available in that market.

I lost track of them since then but just stumbled on their new website tonight. Amazingly, he has finally succeeded in going into production: http://graystoveworks.com/index.html

His stoves have a 12"x12"x12" firebox, secondary air, use 3" pellet stove pipe for venting, and have a cook top and built in stand/wood rack. (I don't think he has been able to get EPA approval yet.)

Pretty cool. I have a boat with a cabin and reverse cycle AC for heat ( reverses AC compressor to create heat). Would LOVE one of those little marine woodburners. But fire on a boat is just asking for trouble, we have enough other issues to worry about, like keeping water out of the boat! ;)

There are a number of wood stoves made for the marine industry though:

    Other small (primarily marine) stoves:
FATSCO Tiny Tot and Pet stoves: http://www.fatscostoves.com/
Paul E. Luke’s marine soapstone and tile fireplaces: http://www.peluke.com/Fireplaces/fireplaces.html
NAVIGATOR STOVE WORKS "SARDINE," "LITTLE COD," and "HALIBUT": http://marinestove.com/sproducthistory.htm
ShipMate Stove Company Skippy, Model 211: http://www.shipmatestove.com/Results.cfm?category=6
    Kimberly Wood Stoves: http://www.unforgettablefirellc.com
    Morsø 1410: http://www.morsona.com/Morsø-1410-529.aspx
    Jotul 602: http://jotul.com/us/products/stoves/jotul-f-602
Salamander Stoves - The Hobbit, The Pipsqueak: http://www.salamanderstoves.com/docs/51/introduction/

I don't think the marine industry will accept this new stove yet anyhow. From their website under 'Latest News' for 15 Aug:

    "We didn't pass ...again.
She burns clean and safe, it is just that the test is not made for such a small unit. That's okay, we'll get there. We appreciate all the support! What we are going to do is sell it as a NON-CERTIFIED outdoor wood stove."

They have a Liability Waiver: http://graystoveworks.com/liabilityform.pdf

    Acceptable use
The Mini 12 CT Survival Stove is intended for outdoor use only and did not pass the 2013 EPA testing standards. It is not to be installed inside of any type of dwelling or living space.
Apparently this is a standard waiver for non-EPA stoves?

Pretty cool little unit. Have you thought about contacting him again? Or commenting on his YouTube videos? Would be cool to hear from him personally and would get him a little more exposure by posting here?

I sent him an email this evening and asked to come up and see his stoves burning in person and see how they are manufactured since he is only about 70 miles from here. I gave him a link to the new forum too. I think he'll remember me because he did join the old forum when I posted about his stove over there and he said they designed this new model with a cook top based on my suggestion.

It thought I remembered him, he was the one that had the stove that was riveted together and was talking about how fast the little stove heated up. Glad to see he stuck with it, that new stove looks much better.

Edit : didn't see you put up his original video

Nice little stove for a small cabin or single room heater.

Nice little stove and not a bad looker at all. Nice secondary action too. I like the bake oven on top.

Brian, does the door have a gasket? It looks like he has good air control. I could see that being used in shed-sized workshop or even a smithy. The small footprint has a nice advantage. I really hope things go through for him.

I am getting ready to finish my basement and will prop. put the jotul down there. If this little stove was Ul tested I would buy it for the upstairs just to have a fire!

Their manufacturing facility where he does his videos is an old casket factory. I suspect it's not very airtight.

His design two years ago did not. I don't know if his current one does but I assume so. I hope to visit his shop later this month so I'll report back then.

Here's his door assembly photo from his Facebook page. If this is the current design it looks like it has a gasket:[IMG]

What else would you start a 0.25 cu ft stove with? :D

Thanks for looking that up Brian. Good on the door gasket. I wonder if the performance has increased with that added. I bet some oak pallet chunks would get that thing to kick some heat. I will admit that this is probably the first steel stove that I like the look of.
