Refineries own about 90% of the gas stations here. If it wasn't for Sheets building some stations 10 years ago our gas would prolly be $5/gal right now. A friend of mine works at the refinery and is constantly saying the owner is a greedy prix .
The pumps are idiot proof now. They have valves that close and are meant to break off after the valves.
and that does not even include the 18.4 cent Federal tax, so you have to factor that in as well for the total tax on gas ( 24.4 cent federal tax on diesel) Washington state raised its gas tax 7 cents last year and is going to raise it another 4.9 cents this summer which well put us at 49.4 cents per gallon in state tax just behind PA (+ the 18.4 cent federal tax that all states have give us a 67.8 cent total per gallon tax) Washington tacks another 7ยข a gallon to state gas tax
That's right I forgot they changed it....I got caught once on a Sunday and never again cause I really plan ahead now....
Well, I posted that it went to $1.599 the other day and it is now $1.459. What a difference a few days can make.

Went to 1.799 here today. It did a week ago too but then fell to 1.619. Fortunately, I filled car and gas cans 2 days ago to prepare for snowstorm. Lucked out this time. Usually when I do that the price drops...
It's going up here too. It was 1.37/ gallon at lowest, and it's been rising the last couple of weeks. It's 1.65 nearly everywhere around here now, despite when it was 1.37 local news stations were saying it was going to drop more due to excess supply of winter blend gas, and summer blend gas will be needing to be made. Also, OPEC said it won't cut production. So, there's only one reason it's going back up. I can't complain too much because gas is still well under $2 per gallon.
