While wood heat is more popular nowadays, it's not common universally, so I think that's the angle....the people who write the laws probably don't heat with wood.

Now stoves arent sewers but something going on in Indiana is the outlawing of septic systems. The way its being done to take the heat off the politicians is to create sewer districts. They head up the formation of sewer systems that are expensive to run out into rural america. Your told that if the pipe runs in front of your house you will be forced to hook up at a 5 grand upfront cost and then $100 a month bill. Grinder pumps put in your front yard have to be hooked up to a phone line as it reports back if the pump fails. So if your one of those people who dropped your local phone service and only had cell phones you have the extra expense of getting a land line again on top of your new sewer bill.

Wood Heating Districts? Ok just kidding.

Improving emissions from stoves is all well and good, but when several decades of manufacturing and sales only has yielded a 20-25% base of EPA compliant stoves it seems to make a lot more sense to focus (also) on all of those non-compliant stoves.
This 20-25% compliance/base achieved with buy back and tax incentives to boost attrition just hasn't been enough.

I agree with his large soda bans, in fact, they should OUTLAW soda, period!

But, I'm from Long Island, and could care less what Bloomberg does. He is the mayer of NYC (or I should say WAS the mayer of NYC), nothing to do with LI thankfully! ;)

I am torn on this issue. I used to be a full supporter of EPA regulations. Over the course of time, with learning about burn bans in parts of the country and my own burning in the back yard, I have become wary of the government telling me what to do. I know there are rocket stove people trying to be recognized and I support that. On the other hand, I don't want to be in a borough that says you have to have a certain rocket stove to cook with. I know that sounds silly but here they can regulate what type of pit can be in your backyard. I would hate to be told that I have to shell out $600+ to be able to grill a steak.

So do you think any thing unhealthy should be outlawed?

I don't need Bloomberg laying judgement on what I can and cannot drink. The E-cig ban is pretty ridiculous too. Cigarettes do affect non-smokers, but not water vapor.

I already knew that. I need a group of people feeding off our tax dollars to run my life. Isn't that the feudal model? (Ducking from the incoming mod arrows!!) Seriously...I'm done. No more from me on this topic.

Actually, the e-cigs vapor has recently been found to be more carcinogenic than regular smoke. I knew that was coming. Ever look at the chemicals that go in that stuff? Yikes!

Nobody likes Uncle Sam digging in our pockets or our backyard.

We're way off course here, let's end it on a high note.
