I was invited to attend a 4-day Front Sight training session, for defensive handgun. A bunch of them going, over a dozen, sometime in March. I can swing the days off, but is it worth it? Anyone go through Front Sight training?
Never been to front site, but have heard good things about their training. I'm a firm believer in training if carry. $2000 for four days and and 600 rounds of ammo. That's pretty steep Have you had any professional training before, and what is your current skill level?
$2k will buy you alot of 1 on 1 time with a trainer. That's how I'd look at it anyway. 600 round in 4 days seems low to me also.
No training since the 90's, been slackin'. We're just a bunch of "recliner Rambos" at this point. The deal is I sign up with one of the other guys and get "diamond" status or some such. Still checking on that. The cost then drops to $200.00 for the training. I have to bring a primary and bug, 1K ammo, 4 magazine min. for each, and arrange my own lodging. I checked the website and they are offering this $200 deal to everyone. Might be worth it, still checking into it.
Sounds much better. $200 for the class, $230 for ammo, $200 for lodging, and $120 for food. All in for $750. Four days of training with a primary and bug gun. I'd be down for that.
Looks like I now have "Diamond" status, not yet certain what that entails. Not certain I'll be able to attend the course either, possible work conflicts. But.. I guess with the membership, I can attend a whole bunch of training sessions, no cost. I'm waiting on the membership packet to describe what's- what. A long time member helped me sign up, but I'm still looking for specifics. I'll update when I have something relevant. JB
Dear Father attended his in Neveda near casinos. He does not drink or gamble, but said he saved $$ on the room since he bought a "casino rate" week if that gives you any ideas. Congrats on Diamond status.
If it works out, I'll probably fly in to McCarran and have them pick me up. They're bringing big 'ol camper/trailers, as if they're going Elk hunting for a few weeks. I talked with a few of them today, they sound like giddy school boys. Vacay for them, a little more serious on my end.
