Yes, it seems like it has taken forever. I have gotten very discouraged at times but the great folks here at FHC have been great in lifting my spirits and keeping me moving forward. Thanks everyone.

Yes, many moons back. I thought it was going to be so easy. Also, I did not know it was going to cost so much. I had a friend gift me $700.00 and I thought with that money I could buy a stove, build a chimney, and build a hearth. I was so naive.

I am being cautious that everything is correct. The screws are going into the stove pipe this morning.

Now, I am unclear on a few things. The manual states for the first firing to build a large kindling fire. What do they mean by this. What size is kindling and what would be a large kindling fire as in size? They state for the second and third fire for it to be some small dry splits; what is consider a small split? I wish the manual had been a bit more specific on the sizes.

Kindling would be stick sized stuff...there is not an exact definition but maybe two/three times the diameter of your thumb down to splinters.
Small splits would be the size of your fist or a little smaller
A large split would be 4-6" across...and then a medium one somewhere in between those two sizes...all this is my opinion, but I bet everybody will agree with those basics.
Over time you will learn what your stove likes for chow
