Got a load of split 8 footers coming tomorrow. 10 cord. Should be perfect to buck up and use for my boiler wood, without taking the time to split it down. Will help with my 3 year plan. IMG_13591.jpg IMG_13611.jpg

I've heard they make 1 meter splits in Germany - never heard of 8 footers though! We gotta see that splitter!

    Welcome to the club!

Thanks guys! Just joined this forum, I had been over at hearth.com for years. I'll take pictures of the delivery tomorrow and ask how they are split. Perhaps they use that corkscrew splitter you can use.

    Can't imagine they're very dry.

Timberwolf, among others, makes a splitter with a 10' capacity - the TW-10RC.

I spotted this monstrous contraption one day and snapped a couple pics. Figured it was fake and just promotional as there was no engine and means to drive the ram...and I thought who would want to split 8' and 10' logs :loco: . I guess there is a desire to split logs that large o_O

I checked out a youtube video of that unit. Man those spits would still weigh a couple hundred pounds :hair:

    Welcome to the forum@bwhunter85.

Yes, those will be some heavy suckers. I see ash and oak and don't know what else. 8', how do you load those in the stove?

Don't feel bad about being on the other forum for years as many of us were too. I used to be the second highest poster there and if you are using the same screen name, I might remember you.

That is me, same screen name. I'm going to cut them to 24" so that will be easy to load and handle.

Good! I thought so but now I'm sure.

btw, where did you get those long splits? Seems there used to be a large mill up at Portland. Maybe there?

Also, in case you did not see it, we are having a get together at our place on April 23. You will be very welcome to come and meet a few us the members.

I found a guy out of the Dorr, MI area who appears to be into the firewood business and does some clear cutting. I was inquiring about a log load and he asked if I was interested in split 8 footers. I had never seen anything like it before. Going to deliver tomorrow, so I will take some pictures. from the pictures it all looked like quality hardwoods.

For sure the picture shows great firewood. We'll be waiting for the new pictures.
