AHHHHHHH. My inexpensive oil monster fix just got expensive.

Came home and the unit is running but the power vent is making loud noises and the damper isnt moving much. As I was checking it out, the motor stopped completely. Called the repair guy-cant get just the motor and they have changed the whole unit/control system-again this one is 20 years old. He will be here tomorrow-boiler is off again and pellet stove firing away.

    $800-900 job :hair:

Yeah, the whole system is 20 years old. I asked about the boiler itself and he said not to make a mountain out of a mole hill, the boiler is fine at this time. Also I guess that since I dont have a chimney. even if I had to replace the boiler, it would still need the power vent.

Darn, that's a rats nest. I don't know how the satellite company got away leaving it that way.

It was the same for me last night. Shoveled the paths and it was in the 20's. An hour later in the low teens (and cloud cover, so it wasn't convection heat loss).

Maybe time to look into replacing the whole unit? At 20 years old, probably time. But then again finanaces may not allow it. All I know is after 20-25 years, it can get a serious leak and cost a whole lot more than replacing the unit

Woke up and there was an inch or so of the white chit again. Side roads were slickery and the main roads weren't much better. Got stuck behind a state truck and just made it to the shop in time.

    Is it over yet? Blah!!

    I hate that...
You deal with a decent storm..... get everything cleaned up really well,
and then get that nuisance crap.
I think that bugs me more than after you come in from clearing
the storm stuff... a minute later and the plow goes by again..

Yesterday I set out to pick up the LG's at the stove dealer and hour away. I stopped by Tractor Supply in a neighboring town to get two cans of spray graphite and went on my merry way. I had a strange noise coming from the air conditioner clutch so I made a note to spray it when I got home...wait I have the spray graphite. At the service station while getting some gas, I decided to shoot some graphite on the clutch. No go.... neither can would spray, both were defective. I called the store where I had just bought them, the manager came back on the line and said she only had one can that would work and all the rest were also defective. So when I got to my destination I traveled to the larger Tractor Supply store and swapped them out. The clerk was very helpful and even tested them into a trash can. I picked up four bags of the Stove Chows at Home Depot just to try them. I won't bother until I'm past this current cold weather streak that is starting today. I'm also waiting for Dexter to run them through his first.:D

many years ago I was snowmobiling near Lac St Jean in Quebec. We stopped at a rail crossing after hearing a train coming to watch. the sleds are perhaps 10 feet from the tracks. Soooo the train begins passing by and all is well, fast, lots of cars, you get the idea.:cool: I look toward the rear of the train and see a large LARGE plume of snow being thrown from the rear of the train! :bug::bug::jaw::jaw:We had about 10 seconds to drag the 500 lb sleds back 20 feet:picard::picard:there were large wing plows pushing back probably 5 feet of snow.. train was doing 40 easy. It would have wrecked the sleds hoods and windshields

    Early rise today

Other half has a Dr appt at 9
    Still fairly warm out.

Gonna meet friends and go to the sportsmans show up in Portland.

Just gonna be a really laid back day.

May shut the stoves off until evening and save on fuel ????????

Not cold enough to justify burning all day, especially when we are not gonna be home

Its on the list. After a new roof last fall, $$ is tight.
The repair guy is saying that its still fine for now. Its the "for now" that worries me too.

Yesterday evening when I got around to looking at my email I found this:

    How’s your NETGEAR C3700 doing?

    Dear Customer,

Looks like you recently registered a NETGEAR C3700 so we wanted to check in to see how it’s doing. Was installation easy? Is it performing well? Does it meet your expectations? We’d really like to know, so we’ve created a brief survey for you to share your experience with us.

There was a link to a survey so being the ever helpful woodland critter I took their survey.:headbang::D:whistle:
