The parts are worth that easy. You could part it out and probably net $100 on ebay. May take time but you could do it.

Being an ECHO goof ball I'd be fixing it up and keeping it.

Some of those parts are harder to find. Looks like a good bit older saw. I have a 451 that I am in the process of getting back working . I had the recoil fly apart on me as I took the wrong thing apart changing the rope. Now its a giant paper weight till fixed.

If it's a runner, top end is in good shape and all the basics are good - $40 is short money. Cheers!

Great opportunity to put your tach, carb tools, and new found carb tuning skillz to good use.

Yeah it sounds like it's running too lean. I've also heard of some older Stihls like 041 had a faulty ignition coil that caused similar symptoms.

I have an 032 that I'm leaning towards bad coil. It was running but kind of all over. Not idle well then it stopped on me. If its coil I bet its cause it was warm.

I had a husky 372 that I though was a bad carb as it would crank up fine but not idle or run long or well. Then would just stop. Let it sit a day and fire up but ran all wanky. The more I messed with it I thought coil. I had a parts saw so I swapped coils and that was the issue.

We shall see, I'm waiting to hear back from the guy. he was asking $60, the cheapo in me offered $40, he said nope. I replied with the old saw, hasn't run in a year and parts are tough to find. We agreed on $50 son now I'm just waiting for the call for when and where to pick it up.

Although less common, I've had air leaks cause similar issues as well.
