campinspecter is headed out again this morning for another load with only the four legged crew to help. I get to go to work this morning.
Didn't know what crown land meant. I figure it's owned by the province of BC. Is it an open permit system?
Very cool campinspecter! Dual purpose splitter and a log skidder and lifter! How high is the splitting deck on that one? I figure if I was ever to build one I like this vertical format as its up off the ground.
Crown land - land owned by the Government. The area I gather wood in is called a Tree Farm license. I can only gather what's left on the ground after the area has been cleared and loaded out. There is no charge for this wood, just that I have to get a firewood permit from the logging company to cut wood in that area. The wood that I'm getting here is what was left after they finished loading the wood dropped here by helicopter.
That's not too bad Allen....I hauled a load of white oak in from about 45 minutes away which is about the furthest I've ever went but I figured white oak that I could back the truck right up to was worth that. I hauled a lot of locust in last year from about 20 minutes out.
