It's crazy- the very notion of having only one chainsaw. :loco:  That's like having one pair of shoes.
Back in the '70s I had only one saw, a S25 Poulan, a serious 38cc screamer from NAS Norva. Then I got a great deal on a Poulan 306 and it was downhill evermore from there. Still enjoying the ride keeping them exercised.

All you guys with many big saws. How many of you have run a two man saw? Those are the OLD ones that weighed about thirty pounds and had three or four foot bar with a two handed handle on the tip and the other guys running the saw. The end of bar, you can't let go and the tip is in your face and your hands. Scary as all hell, Backwoods Savage probably knows what I mean. I did it once as a teen, and didn't ever do it again.

I've never seen it run but I know a fellow that has one in has barn. It has a 60" bar.

Next time I'm over that way I'll see if I can remember to take a picture of it.

Just one saw, for now, but I am new to this alternative lifestyle. I doubt I will ever have more than two........oh, who am I kidding.

Heck I don't even burn yet and have had saws for about 18years. First was the highly sought after poulan "wild thing", that I gave away a year ago. When it didn't cut fast enough on a huge downed cottonwood, I bought the. Biggest saw my towns little shop had, an echo cs-530. Nigh and at from the wild thing. Then, when I bought the house(that I don't get to move into until April) back last spring, knowing it's got a wood burner, I bought my 362cm. Then, thanksgiving sale decided a ms180 would be nice once in a while ... So I don't burn yet, & already have three saws. Might sell the echo, but I hate selling tools!!

How about a misery-whip? Really old design, worked great after I repaired the handles and did a little filing. Nowadays I much prefer 2-stroke, thanks. Where'd you get that "thirty pounds" stuff for the early chainsaws? Back when, loggers would have killed for a 2-man chainsaw that light. Heck, my 576 Husqy is 21 lb and change, topped-off, w/28" bar. Don't have to stand there holding it for long- it's over quick. It spoils one.

Those 2-man chainsaws of the '40s and '50s must have been a treat with their SLOW scratcher chain, too. Major workout & hearing-loss.

C'mon down to GTG in Greenwich NY in late April. Steve has a Dolmar 166 with at least a 5' bar. Could almost use a helper-handle.

I only use my 455 and for what I need it for, it's all I need. My Poulan isn't running and will try and fix it in the summer (if/when I get around to it). So I'm quite happy with only one, but wouldn't complain if the saw fairy left me another nicer saw.....:D
