Bought a couple of bags of Chows and a bag of FSU today at HD for $5.18 a bag. I had bought a few bags of TSC blue bags last week which according to our thread are Green supremes and I'm not feeling them. Lots of ash which the E2 is not fond of.

Spent my weekend doing the unexpected. My honeys son got a steel dog runner lead caught in her snow blower the last time it was used (a month ago) and being a typical teen, he put it away without saying anything :hair:

Well she found out Friday night around 6pm when she fired it up, engaged the auger and all helz broke loose...among other stuff. 8 inches of heavy wet chit and no snowblower. She tried to take it apart but couldnt-I give her a lot of credit as she went in the same direction I would have without knowing the correct way.

I found out around 9pm Friday after I had cleaned up here and was talking with her. By this time, she had calmed down and her son was heading out with a shovel to give him a strong reminder and clean it up himself by hand. She wasnt mad that it happened, heck it could happen to anyone. It was the "I forgot to tell you" that pizzed her off. We could have fixed it when it was warmer and before any storms and probably without parts or taking the damm thing apart.

Well, I went down there Sat morning and she and I disassembled the blower, removed the auger assembly and got out the hack saw to cut the cable in 3 spots before it would completely untangle-this thing was wrapped tight around both the input and auger shafts as in a way that was pulling the augers in towards the gear box . Off to the small engine repair shop for parts. Luckily the gear box wasnt damaged...whew....and there were a few bushings and a few spacers damaged on the auger shaft. They had the bushings but not the spacers so off to NAPA with hopes....nope not there ether for the spacers. Off to Ace Hardware and bought the closest size nylon washers that matched thickness and used a round file to make the inner diameter work...poof, MacGiver to the rescue !!

Got the beast back together and it worked like a charm !! Fixed for 16 bucks in bushings, shear pins, make shift washers and a days work. :)

Good job on the fix!!

Got the Chows stacked, furnace cleaned, and fully loaded with the Chows from today. So long as I see distribution temps of 140° or higher from these Chows? I'll be buying 6 ton this week. :dex:

These are my last 40 bags of PTL's. That's why I got the ton of Sets yesterday and will need another 6 ton to make it through the next 2 winters. Might as well be a hog when they are $199!!!!

Dex I think you're going to really like the LaCrete's but unfortunately you won't find them at $199 anywhere.....at least not for 50 bags.

That bag was shipped to me from a member/dealer here. It was one bag, but I know it wasn't cheap to ship. I'm happy to have it, and there has since been a dealer (1.5 hours away, that now carries them. If I ever decided to buy them (. :)

But if the Chows have the same heat and less ash as the PTL? Then I may spring for 8 or 9 ton and go to a 3 year plan. My garage can fit 5 vehicles. So if I have to keep a few ton out there? It won't be a problem.

Unless they are water logged, you can't go wrong with those for $199 Buy, buy, buy.....lol I'd be surprised to see pellets again for $199 any time soon.

I believe the Harmans shut themselves down when on a UPS because the sense the modified sine wave. A conventional genny is a bit different. Also, if the UPS is pure sine wave, like the ones I have the Harmans wouldn't notice a thing.

I'm happy for everyone able to get pellets at $199 but I don't see that happening up here. Just in case though I bought 4 bags of Inferno Gold today at $5.18. If they are any good, and Gbreda says they are, if the price does drop I'll be all over them.

I'm thinking about buying a 1000 watt Honda inverter and dedicate it to the stove and use the 2500 watt to power the rest of the house. I just need to scrape up the extra cash.

I bought my 2500 during the ice storm from hell that we had in '98. The genny still starts on the first or second pull. Other than an occasional oil change and new spark plug, I've had it serviced once, and that was last year.

I wasn't aware that Harman's shut themselves down on a UPS. That's not all bad if no one is home and it shuts down normally. Better than losing power and having a smoldering fire filling the house full of smoke.

X100... That's why I may spring for 3 years (9 ton). Especially if they are as good as they have been. It's been a couple years since I burned any, but they were always a better than average pellet!!

Near the end of the 3rd quarter in the Super Bowl. About to fire the furnace and find out how good they are!!
