I just got another email from them and they want me to come out to take a look and talk. Maybe they're finding out that it's going to be difficult or impossible to find what they hoped for. I guess we'll find out later.

You think they will let you cut a few?

If you have to cut and remove all the above ground wood thats a job!!! That will take you years to cut.

I'm not really sure what they're thinking. I assume they would want a stump at least a few feet high for leverage to pop them out. But you know what they say about assuming.

Why must make a simple............ complex , i was in about the same situation before two years with some pines , the deal was clean the area and take the woods
first i call two extra friend with saws , then a good deal with the mill near my town and then a good deal with a friend with excavator
yes i pay some extra but i take some good extra
i like to do it with my wifes kitchen tools but big jobs big tools or stay and wait the others do the job and then colect the branches
so back to the stihl 391 good saw for branches

Just got off the phone with them. Logger was there this morning and turned them down. No money in it for them.

She was measuring circumference not diameter and the trees are too small for a logger. Perfect for me though and only 3 miles from home.

Going there tomorrow afternoon to talk and look things over. She said leave 3' stumps for leverage to pop them out later which she said they'd take car of and pile the brush for burning later as well.

So, no bigger saw needed but I still want one for some reason and you all know why that is. damm C.A.D.. And I got a buddy into the mix with a larger tractor and a few saws too plus he has access to a dozer for skidding so this is looking a little sweeter right now.

Might have worked out a deal for a few years of BTU's for 2 family's.

    :D

Done deal. Just waiting for them to get a liability waiver ready and sign. Roughly 150 trees and she was way off on her measurements. Half about 14" diameter and half about 8" which is kinda good because my little tractor will be able to skid everything.

No stumps to remove and all we need to do is pile the brush for them to burn. Just need the ground to freeze up a bit for skidding and hauling. Not as much as we thought is was going to be but free wood is free wood.

Thats still TONS of wood!! But I guess if you can load with a tractor in lengths it will help

I was at the Stihl dealer today picking up a few chains for the MS 250 and looked at them but didn't pull the trigger. Figuring on trying to get through this with what I have and if it's not working out I'll just pick one up. The pasture is only about 500 yards from the dealer.

Awesome! I thought they probably had measurements wrong. Nice score anyway! Tear it up!

There are worse saws. And as long as you never try a good pro 60cc saw or even 70cc you won't realize what your missing.

Oh I agree. I could be out there with my 3814 Earthquake. 38cc of Chinese furry!!

But seriously thats where I am. I put together a beater Husky 372 out of two saws and fixed a ms650 that I mostly use now. I literally have tossed my 40 and 45cc saws to the side when I pulled them out to make a few cuts....as they took so long!!.

I do love my 011 though. Seems to have a lot of grunt for a 40cc saw.

Why? A 250 is in it's happy place in sub 14" wood and they are plenty durable. Maybe an 026 or 346 would be awesome but if you have a good 250, it's up to the task for sure. And I'm quite sure Brett is up to any mechanical "challenges" that may pop up, ;)
