I have never given a second thought of tearing a pallet open and start loading my cart up.

    Unless it is outside.

How I do it is if there are pallets that I can't tell what brand is under all that plastic , I'll pull / cut up from the bottom enough to see what they are if it's junk move on :( that way it won't ruin the pallet for the uneducated pellet buyer :bug: if it's a score like Set's cut that Bad boy open load that cart 25 bags and Push :dex:

I passed on Chow's yesterday cuz the bags were wet on the pallet that was inside the store. Outside in the yard the pallets were covered up with snow...I passed on it all.

I would normally do the same but I didn't have the time yesterday. I just wanted to run in and grab 2 bags and get out. I may go back Sunday.

Temps supposed to be down to low single digits at the end of the week. May actually break out a bag of softwood to try and see what all the hoopla is about :)

I just started using Softwoods this winter...
    some Okie firs, Plats, Lacretes......
I'm convinced enough to buy all softwoods for next season simply for the low to zilch ash of some of them. Even my tried/true Energex golden Hardwoods we're ashier this year.....geez......:picard:

Really don't care about Oil prices cause I like the steady 24/7 heat at 72-75 degrees.
was used to keep a 67 degree house so we didn't blow thru oil that much..
with Oil I would be filling up more often at that temperature so there goes most of the savings..

I don't see the problem with that , I don't open a pallet that's in the parking lot , but if it's inside the store that's fair game to me and I'm taking half of that pallet ,I'm helping them move product .

Last season I opened up a pallet without asking. However, it was inside (at HD), next to an open pallet with a couple of layers of bags that had slices in them. It was obvious that the pallets were for people buying by the bag.

I wouldn't if they were outside, or if I wasn't confident of the store's intent. Would ask in that case.

Just cleaned the Harman and put a bag of Olympus in.
Now it's time to sit back and wait to see if they are good as everybody says they are.

my wife picked up a quart plastic measuring cup so i can measure ash. I didn't think she would like me using one from the kitchen. 25 bags of EasyBlaze SYP resulted in 92 ounces of ash. rounded up for the ash that escapes the ash pan... call it an even 100. 4 ounces per bag by volume. room in the tiny ash pan on the insert for another week, easy. I'm liking these
I'm running the same test with some Blackstone hardwood now....
