Makes perfect sense to me, in hindsight. Hence, I pre-plan for those scenarios. 2=1, 1=none sort of thing.

Having only one chainsaw is something I'd expect to see on a suicide note.

That's pretty dark. But, I've seen lesser reasons on those notes.
I'll donate my 346 if I hear a -sincere- cry for help.
Posers get a coupon for a Rem. electric saw. Just sos' ya' know.

Does it count if I only have one Stihl? It's a MS361 with 20 and 24 inch bar. 6 and 2 chains each respectively.

I also have 4 poulans (5020, 4620, 4218, and a top handle 3212) with at least 2 chains each and 2 with extra bars.

I only have one - course'n I don't burn wood or live in the woods, so to some, that might be 1 too many :D. It was a CL find; I had been looking because I needed to take down some saplings and cut off broken limbs in lilac trees. I have nobody around to help out, and couldn't see paying someone for doing it, so paid $65 and did it myself. Pretty proud of myself - a mid-50's woman that had never handled a chainsaw in her life. Not only did I manage not to kill myself, I didn't even come close to hurting myself

Only one saw a Stihl 441 Magnum. Technically I only own half of it since my old man and I split the cost. Where I normally cut I can get access to a couple of saws if I get into a pinch.... Although one time I had to use the SAW on my Gerber multi-tool to free my bar....

Having only one saw is like having only one firearm! While I could likely get away with only having say a 60cc, I have three....errr...four. A top handle for brush and when on ladders, or woods walking. A 50cc for most duties: cleaning up trails, cutting rounds. Just got a 70cc not too long ago. It gets used when I have a pile of logs ready for the splitter and the occasional larger log I may run into. I got by without a "big saw" for a long time, but I no longer find myself thinking "a bigger saw would be nice right now". My fourth is another 50cc that I decommissioned and recently rebuilt. So I am on the 4 Saw/3 Saw plan for now.

I think we are right about the same amounts per year. Then I looked at your location...?????? Seems like a lot of wood for your climate, no? There are years that I don't cut near ten cord and years that I cut over ten cord.
When look back on it, it has been a good saw for me. It seems that over 30 years is pretty good!

Sounds like a good plan. When I go to cutting, very rarely do I have to fell a tree. Yes, I have pinched a bar before (and again I'm sure) but usually avoid those potential pinches until the piece (log) is more manageable.
Only once did I have to unbolt the bar from the head to free it from the pinch. I thought for sure that the bar would be bent/twisted also but it was ok.

Sounds like good choices.... is that 346xp going to EC as well?

I am going to flip one of these 371/2s into a 39x one day when I finally bite the bullet and stop thinking about milling and do it.

I started with only one saw....and then all these dang forums convinced me that was a stupid way to go!!! I'm pretty happy with 2 saws now and have no plans to change that. But had I started with a 60cc saw instead of a 50cc I MAY have stayed with just one saw. But probably not.

My dad made do with an old 015l for most of his life and then when he started heating with wood used only a MS310 for about 12 years until my brother and I got him a 36cc saw this year for Christmas. And my brother was doing fine with just his 026 Pro until I convinced him to buy the 036 that was recently listed on here. I guess I'm as bad of an influence as these dang forums!!
