You cant go wrong with either brand, they both make good tractors. I personally don't like the "treadle" pedal on Kubota tractors, but that's just me.

I can tell you that the loader ratings on some of the smaller tractors is underrated. My loader was rated at 650 lbs or something like that and it will lift 900 lbs to full height.

BTW, don't know if you have owned any small diesels, but there is no comparison between 18 hp gas and 18 hp diesel. I can run a 5" chipper with a 125 lb drum off my PTO. Try that with a 18 hp gas lol.

Don't get me wrong, hp is hp, but the diesel has so much more torque, when it starts pulling down, it just keeps on chugging.

If you have any more questions, ask away as I love talking about tractors almost as much as I do wood lol.

Thanks Spencer. I'll keep you in mind when it comes time to buy. 900 lb would be great!

One thing for sure is how it handles that 650 or 900 as if we get this tractor I will be hauling some sand in the fel for some distance and don't want to do damage. Fortunately most of the ground is not that rough but with a load on the front, one has to be careful.

A full bucket of wet sand is pretty heavy for these little tractors. I can move full buckets of stone/gravel all day, just throw the backhoe on the back for ballast and keep that bucket as low as possible. I typically go thru a tri-axle load of stone every couple years at my place maintaining trails and drive. WHen you take a look at the front axles of these tractors, you will understand why 900 lbs is no big deal for the tractor.

All tractors get tippy if you don't have proper ballast and are keeping the load too high.

It was a pain to quarter saw tho lol. I spent ALOT of time with a cant hook fippin those logs. It was more work to resaw also but was worth it. Once you put some poly on it, it just pops!

Spencer, the video won't play. In order to do a video on the forum, the video must first be uploaded to youtube or some other web side like Photobucket and then you can paste a link to it on this forum. I'd like to see that video!

That has been something I have been meaning to ask the forum. How do you wash your chaps. Mine got rather dirty the last time I cut and they need cleaning.
