We had about 4" overnight and most of it melted off today, then we got about 4" this evening. I love the snow! It covers up most of the imperfections.
We have 45 this morning with some gusty winds (not real bad) nothing going in the Liberty except some coals from last nights fire.
26 this morning and still a good bed of coals, but I didn't add any wood until about 7:30 Still 72 in the living room. I don't think this thermometer reacts very quickly, as I can feel it getting cooler before it registers any change. Anywho, going to 34 today, so another easy burn day. On a side note, I barely made it through Jan. with the Oak in the front. That was nice. No special effort,...it just happened. About 2 more cords of Oak, another cord of Maple, and almost 1/2 cord of Pine still in there, and with the projected temps on Accuweather, we're doing quite well in that regard.
34 Ran off pain most of the nite. A few odds burning wide open to clean things out and warm up. Prolly run a small load of coal today. The minimal wood usage this year compared to the last 2 is amazing.
I let the fire go out last night and got it going again this morning. Burning some silver maple right now. Getting ready for the snow storm that will hit tonight.
Cleaned out ash from the stove tonight after work. Man this thing holds the coals well. Once I sifted the ash from the coals, there was about a 8" x 16" x 4" bed of hot coals. A few splits on it and it's choochin' again. She's all ready for the rain, snow, and cold front. It's supposed to warm up again this weekend, so I won't have to deal with ashes until then.
Won't hit here until tomorrow afternoon unless something has changed recently. Personally, I think it may miss us with a direct hit and pass to the south a bit.
Yeah, it's going to hit Wisconsin pretty hard, and not hit the UP too much. Our little corner of SE Wisconsin is a tough one to call. 2-5" is what we're expecting, but I won't be shocked if we get more. I'm ready.
That's all? One map I saw I think the SE corner was 5-8. Guess it's not that much more anyway. Leave your bike home for tomorrow!!!
That's a good amount down here. There's far too many idiots that don't know how to deal with roads that are not perfectly grippy or have the lines obscured by that white stuff.
Fore-casted for 1-3"today and then the real stuff starts in the evening. So they say. 25 now, mild wind. Gusts of over 40 tonight though.
18 and clear at 6am this morning Felt like below zero when I went out to plug equipment in. Smorgasbord of crap and coal in the beast . Awesome sunsets and rises this winter.
Just fired up the stove with Pinion pine, 17 outside @8:30 AM..... Driving home from work last night it was -8 over the pass.
mild day today, not really even cold tonight but i will be burning some cordage with fire so i will be warm when i get up to go to work. no fire since this morning either. mild winter is saving wood like money in de bank yessiree! i also realize it ain't over yet.
