I had a date with a tree or two this afternoon. However, my wife wanted one of our lanes cleaned up. I wonder why? There are 3 pictures I took of some of the mess or after we had cleaned up some of the mess. One thing about lanes in woods. You have to continually work to keep them cleared. It was a good day to be out too with some thawing going on and no body parts getting cold. Was nice also working along the creek as when we would stop for breaks (we took several) it was quiet except for the babbling of the water. Sweet!
It does take work to keep trails open in your woods. At least you don't have to go far off the trail to get the wood that falls across it and it all burns
Take advantage of the warm weather to get er done. You never know when winter may reappear with a vengeance.!
You do what you gotta do, but the weather's pretty nice, better than trying to get through a foot of snow.
The weather is trying to turn on us. It got nasty for a while this afternoon. Temperature fell to 33 with rain, sleet and snow. Supposed to get warm again tomorrow but they are saying cooler then next week much colder after a possible storm early in the week. Time will tell.
That's where I've come to love my polesaw & brushcutter. Lots of vines at all levels in the woods around here, so any means of reducing footwork also reduces face-plants. That's not much fun holding a running saw, either. 25cc saw-on-a-stick can cut up a tangle much faster than conventional 50cc saw; stuff up above shoulder-height, fuggeddaboudit.
Ah yes, trail maintenance. I could cut a lot more wood if I didn't spend so much time on my trails, but I would cut a lot less wood if I didn't spend so much time on my trails. Bit of a conundrum I suppose.
Found a couple snaps of some trails... They always fall across the trail. Before: After: rented a couple times...very handy Fixing a badly rutted skid trail from a timber trespass Drainage project from this summer I'm not sure what the total length of all the trails is, but plenty enough to keep me busy. Many are old skid trails that have been fancied up over the years.
