As for the exhaust, I agree. A lot of stainless being used, plus the higher temps these engines run at help to burn out moisture & corrosives. My '02 (bought in July of '01) Trailblazer is almost 15 yrs old & 230K miles......original exhaust.

As for oil changes, I do the same as you, if possible. I shoot for late Oct-Nov to get it done. Luckily, since it's only had Mobil 1 full synthetic since it's 1st oil change back in '01, the Oil Life Monitor usually only tells me to change it after about 10K or so. The higher cost of the synthetic is more than covered by the mileage received. BTW, the engine starts & runs like the day I bought it.

Dang, and I thought that I was pushing it with 7500 miles between changes-although I use Mobile 1 as well. At about 25-27 bucks for a 5 quart jug at Wally World, its a no brainer to use full synthetic.

I downloaded the 1957 classic sci-fi movie Kornos, it had been decades since I had seen that one. I have located more than a few cartoons to watch, as soon as a couple of big movies get transfered to the 1TB drive I'll be sending 34 Yogibear episodes over the wire to the drive. I've been giving the set-up plenty of punishment.

I like Wix. Napa Gold is made by Wix. Have also used Hastings and AC Delco. The quick lube I use has Quaker State. Have also been known to use cheap chitt. IMO todays cars with low tension rings and roller everything have much less particulate matter in the oil than yesterdays cars. Everyone seems to worry about oil changes but overlook all the other systems that need occasional maintenance. my .02

I just usually get the classic Purolator for about 3.50 a pop. Sometimes I can find the Pure One on Amazon for about the same price. Only like that one more for the grippy container.

    Best ones out there are:
    Mobil 1
Wix (only ones we are allowed to run on our sprint motors)
    NAPA Gold (Wix)
    Carquest (wix)
    AC Delco
    Hastings
    K & N
    Purolator Pure 1

    Junk:
Fram (been coasting on their name for WAY too long)

Oil Life Monitor (OLM) on my Trailblazer uses total engine rotations and dirt sensor to calculate when light should be turned on. Might be other parameters in there too, but I'm not sure.

Synthetic oil in a passenger "car" engine under normal conditions is far from being abused, and can go a lot longer.

I have used Fram a couple of timed. But I always bought that expensive one that says it can go like 15k miles. Still change it after 4k give or take.

Their top of the line filter might be OK, but I wouldn't chance it. A lot of better filters out there. You can get Wix filters from a place like RockAuto.com pretty cheaply, and KNOW you have a good filter. You can find the K&N, Delco, and Pure 1 pretty easily locally....almost always available in Wally World.

Will be talking to them tomorrow (they seem to be reluctant to call so my agent gave me the name and number :D). I bought the truck where I'm taking it for evaluation. They have maintained it since it was new, and they had just taken it in on trade when I got it. They had to do some work to it before I could take possession. Since it has only been a couple of months (and no frost heaves yet), it shouldn't be too hard to prove that it wasn't existing damage if anything is found on the new parts.
