Woke up to mid 20's and a beautiful morning. Loaded up a few small splits of oak, temps expecting to top off in mid 40's and climbing the rest of the week with heavy rain wednesday.

Threw a small fire of apple and oak before I headed out to work for a while. Probably won't need another one until tonight... mid 30s today.

I was tired from cutting and hauling yesterday.

I meant to post this last night, but, you know....

Upper 20's last night, elm and beech in the quad. The house has been holding at 70 in the back hall where the t stat is. Stove room is surely warmer, but not uncomfortable.

Furnace is quiet. I'll get my next gas bill in a few days. My first one with the insert was really nice.

Guess I didn't need to load up the stove this morning. It's 54 and sunny. Feels like mid March. Had the sliding door open for a while.

Oh yeah. We love it. About my only complaint is that I wish it had a bigger firebox.

It does have its limitation in that respect, especially when it gets stuffed with ash and coals.

I'm not as inconvienced by that as it could be as work is only 8 minutes away for me (and soon to be half that because my company is moving closer to my house!) so I'm able to do a mid day reload at lunchtime. And with the way it's been this year there have been many many days that I skip the reload. My three year stack of wood is beginning to look like a five year pile.

Yeah, my commute is 45 minutes each way. There's no lunch reload for me.

It's 38 with some rain tonight, we'll be burning some Maple and Cherry tonight.

If the weather is ok tomorrow, I'll be getting some topped off Cherry and more Maple.

I just came up from making a fire (it was 38 when I headed down to make it) it's 45 when I came up.

It should be a mess in the morning with the rain were getting.

Are you hoping for more or tolerating what you have so far?
