They mention you fellas half way through the article, stating that these restrictions are becoming common place in the USA.

I will say (this is not going political, only factual) the title in the original article is somewhat misleading. No fault of rottiman. It's actually going to be coming/going into force through city bylaw type wrangling. It's at the city level, not the fault of whatever provincial or federal gov't is sitting at this time.

I've no doubt the stupidity will spread as time goes on.

Well, as far as I know, no one down here is actually fining or confiscating old stoves - they are grandfathered. The EPA has proposed rules where dealers can't even take in older stoves on trade - and you can't sell to another privately, but I'm not sure it actually passed (at least not the private sales part). Although places like CA & WA most likely already have those restrictions.

"Starting in 2018, wood-burning appliances will be banned unless they meet the rigorous new emission standards of 2.5 grams of fine particles or less per hour.

Glad I dropped a few grand a couple years back on my Pacific Energy T5 at ''3.4 grams of fine particles an hour"

Mine's 4.3 grams. Eh, there won't be any sort of craziness regarding confiscation of stoves in my state.

It's like a car. New ones have to meet the epa regs, but you can use the old one as long as you want. We don't even have safety inspections here on cars. So you literally can run your old beater as long as you can.

I can't see this happening in my neck of the woods either. These regulations mean nothing if the guy running the stove practices poor burning technique.

I'll be honest, I never read the article as it seemed so farfetched.

Here in WA my Allnighter is allowed, since it is already installed. BUT, I cannot legally sell it in WA, nor can it be installed anywhere else in WA. Legally it is scrap when I remove it. Good thing my local CL covers northern Idaho As well. :D

I think there would be a riot here if they tried to all out ban old stoves, all my friends my age have the old stoves they have had for years. I don't know anyone one with a new modern stove, and have never even seen one run. I realize if I had younger friends new to the game, they most likely would have new stoves. I know the stoves are cleaner, but at this stage in my game, I 'm not spending money for a new one when my old works great. And I burn as clean as I possibly can. "Live Free or Die"
