Clean out from today. I'm going to start mixing in the Fireside Ultras to cut down on the ash until these are gone.

Ironically, I emptied the ashpan Monday. Full already.

    Ill vouch on the ash.

That why I like the Harman, a 2+ Gallon ash bucket. I haven't burned much this season, and haven't emptied it since NOVEMBER !!!!!!!!!!

I find that interesting because the FSU's aren't known as a low ash pellet.

Well, no, but they aren't the worst by far - and TG's are definitely a mostly ash pellet. Heck, I cut the Curran's with FSU's to make the Currans better. And, FSU's also are less ashy than Pres-to's for me, but not by much so I don't bother cutting the Pres-to's (pres-to's are slightly hotter, so they are forgiven).

25 bags of Easyblaze SYP in the Harman since a clean. the ash pan is about 2/3 full. i think it might hold 3 quarts. i'm going to commandeer a measuring cup from my wife and get more accurate info. no chunks or speed bumps when i scraped it last weekend. burned 31 bags this January vs 35 GT's last year (Jan 12 thru 31, as we were on vacation, and i cannot seem to get the cat to load the stove!)

Most of my issue is the cookie sheet I have for an ashpan. Nature of the insert I suppose. I'm hoping the FSU's are a bit less ashy. Stove Chows are lower on the ash scale for me, so I'm thinking that the FSUs should be as well since they're both Energex. We shall see!

I had the same issue with the Themaglo's last year. Very ashy pellet. I don't know if I'm good at picking ashy pellets, or my stove is good at bringing out the best in ash production. I feel I have it dialed in well. Could always add an OAK and see if that helps.

Cats are almost impossible to train. Got our to 'circle' at their dish when feeding them. That was all they would allow us to do.
Tho, they have us trained much better.

yes, i posted them on another thread. 25 bags of EasyBlaze SYP worked out to 100 ounces. 4 ounces per bag

the Blackstone hardwood based on i think 12 bags was 7.2 ounces per bag

Is that ash volume or ash weight?

Assuming the Blackstone bags are 40lbs. that ash percentage would come out to 1.13% putting well over a premium pellet designation.

***edit*** the EB's would be .63%

took a total of pellets burned through the end of this month (well, estimated the next 5 days, cause I'm going skiing!) 111 bags this year vs 162 last year. a ton less.
