Transfer is the ALuminim off the piston transferred to the cylinder walls. Not actually scratched into the cylinder walls

Good evenin friends...hear are a couple of pic of the piston... IMG_20160127_111006.jpg IMG_20160127_111031.jpg IMG_20160127_111102.jpg IMG_20160127_185027.JPG ...from this jug... IMG_20160126_161832.JPG ...I found a couple more things about this jug... IMG_20160127_185428.JPG IMG_20160127_111201.jpg IMG_20160127_185210.JPG ...I found this spot hear, what do you think causes this. Is it a bad bearin causin the piston to slap? Also found this chip, I had pulled this jug off another saw, the piston was fried, it had a big bad spot on it,I figured something big went through it. That was last spring, the jug looked good enough to use again, so I did, I used a different piston and a different set of rings. All came from 3 different 372xps. Dose it look like the piston and rings can be cleaned up and reused?...if so, how do I go about it...thank you...

That jug is toast. Plating is worn, looks like a rung may have snagged? I just took a quick look at a light.

U is right next to I on the keyboard so it becomes a ring snag.

You'll have to forgive Clem. Proofreading isn't something he is fond of :). By rung, he meant ring..

As for the piston? If you had to use it? I would smooth it all out with like 300 grit. If the rings are not gouged up? They may be fine. But you can get a new Meteor replacement piston/rings for cheap (ask definitive dave on this forum) :)

I was in traffic. I looked and responded at the light. By the time I hit send I was moving again and could not look and never thought about it again..

But yes I do have a tendency NOT to proofread!

Thank you fur your input...hahaha...that's some pretty funny chit there...but I do it all the time myself....hahaha...this jug and piston came out of a runnin saw...I had now problem with it. I just thought I would try portin a little bit to a spare jug I had and was goin to put it on this saw...just fur fun...I did try cleanin this jug up tho and soon as I get some 300 sand paper...I will try to clean up the piston...I think this will be a set...it worked before the clean up...should work again...right? So I only had to kinds of grit sand paper, 150 and 240 grit ,I think it was 240...lol...any who. I had to make mandrel. I took a bolt, hack sawed the head off, hack sawed a groove in it and taperred the end with a grinder so it would fit my dremel...then I had to make a bit fur the brillo pad, not a real brillo pad...lol...its the best I could do fur what I have... I had to puntch it hear so it wouldn't spin on the shaft...thank you... IMG_20160128_163936.jpg IMG_20160128_174401.JPG

Yea it does look way better. Looks like most of that was transfer from the piston.

And scratched pistons can still run. I had a 372 that was scratched way worse than that. The exhaust side of the piston was scratched had part of the ring welded in the ring and was leaving deposits on the cylinder. It cut and run mostly alright. Did. Out idle great and could not really get it to tune but it still ran and cut??? They will run more than most will give them credit for. I took 2 and made one.
