How do I tune this saw?

Soooo, i got the Blue Max on sale from Home Depot $100. I thought it would be a good tool to learn 2-stroke carb tuning on. Id also like to do a MM to it but am up the creek on tuning so here goes.

MasterMech mdavlee millermodsaws and other 2-stroke gurus, is there a definitive procedure to tuning a 2-stroke? I am familiar with 4-stroke cycles and am very mechanically skilled, just never learned a 2-stroke. So here are some pics of the victim after the covers were removed.

 

So my first order of business is goin to be getting to the L/ H screw. they look like there are caps over them.... Next will be a MM. Ill take pics of things as i go, and i'm all ears for advice, i dont know my azz from a trash truck on 2stokes....

 

I too have always been leary of making adjustments on 2-cycle engines. Have done plenty of reading and watched a ton of Youtube stuff...still a little hesitant. I need a tach. Not sure if what sounds good to my ear is really good or not.

Those carb screws most like will need special adjusting screwdrivers, look closely at the heads of the screws, most likely not capped. They look like single v style screw heads.

I wish I was more articulate and/or could type quicker, I'd try to get you there. I'm relatively new to saws (only got into wood burning last fall), but I have a good head on my shoulders. Here's a basic tune sheet.

Looks like it. I'd slot the heads. Needing to carry multiple tools to tune different saws would be annoying.

 

Being the tinkerer i am i yanked the carb to get a better view of the L/H screws. They appear to have just one small indented key in them and the idle screw appears to be the same thing. Barcroftb is that one of the tools in that pack you posted? I also took the liberty of yanking the muffler.... I believe my next step there is to unfold the crimp and see whats inside there.

 

Ok, i looked at the tools a little closer, the one that looks like a pie is the one that would fit. Just curious, does anyone know what tools my CS-400, and CS-670 would need?

Nope, it's a stand mixer bowl. I picked it up from a thrift store for $2, and is stainless. Mrs.Muffinhead doesn't run the kitchen here anyway, it's a man's kitchen

So this isnt my finest work but the crimp was damm tight. Looks like i found a CAT in there, think it'll fit in the Princess.

Seriously though, what is the best plan of attack from here? Knock out the cat completely, drill a few holes, open up the exit ports?
