That makes me happy! Dogs should not ever have to live like that. All they want is to love someone. Thank God Sandy will get to live out her life happy and content. She will know and love you all the more. Thank you, Chief

Good luck with her. I did the same thing. The poodle I got was paper trained. She never did fully adapt to going outside. She also had a bad habit of biting my wife. She was very loyal, would never run off. loved to sit in my lap. I got her from a lady that was moving into senior living. Odd, but the lady and the little dog passed away within three days of each other. Good luck with the house training. Oh, our little one was also named "Sandy".

So... Sandy has done incredibly well, and so has Giz. Gizzy did the very low disapproval growl a few times, which we stopped right then, and now she seems to understand. Grammy picked up a small dog bed pad and Sandy laid on that on the couch until we hit the sack. Slid that pad in one of our crates, and Sandy walked right in and laid down. Never heard a peep most of the night until a little after 3. Poor thing must have woken up and thought she had to fight. Sounded like she did about 6 back flips in there... and then, quiet, snoring. (She really does snore) This morning Giz and I got up and did our reg routine and Sandy stayed in the crate for a half hour... not a peep. Got her to pee & poop on a pad. Again, she was never house trained.

My thoughts so far... Sandy is a very tired ole girl. And absolutely inhaling the love here. When we sat down on the couch, she immediately laid down against us. Clearly felt safer. She shakes when I scoop her up, but after about 5 minutes she knows she's OK and eventually just falls asleep in my arms. If I ever thought this was crazy (getting a rescue dog needing extra care)... I forget it right about then... ;)

Our vet had a slot this afternoon to take a good look at her. Looking forward to that.
