I have been bringing in a few wheel barrow loads every 5 days or so and there is only enough wood left for two more reloads. So it is time to do it again tomorrow, storm or no storm.
What I've done or plan on doing before this storm...... -bring more wood up to the deck. This storm + snow removal will be a 30 hr event. -the mighty grizzly is gassed up and ready to plow -I put chains on Dawns honda tonight, so we can rip around during the storm -need to get gas for the genny -fridge stocked with beer
Just gotta bring one more load up in the ranger and I'll have about a weeks worth of wood in the house. After that im pretty much set.
We have plenty enough dry wood stored out of the weather, water & candles etc. The wife for some reason stocks up on large quantities of canned kidney beans (in case of emergency I think). Hope to dickens that the power stays on forever LOL.
< I have some wood in the field that will be covered but most of what I need for this year is already in the shed. Brought more into the garage yesterday and put the plow on the truck. Oil lamps are strategically placed around the house. Plenty of food in the basement. Guess I'm as ready as I can be.
Filled basement with wood and brought another truck load to put under the deck - right outside my basement door. I already had 4 truckloads stacked under there but another couldn't hurt. Have about 35 gallons of water on hand and checked the flashlights, etc. About as ready as I'll be. Now bring on the snow!
The Governor is cutting us loose at 1:00. Hopefully, I will get home by 4. I brought extra wood around to the carporch, got fuel tuesday, and filled the windshield fluid up. Snow shovel at the ready, I am making a big pot of chili, some bread, and keeping the coffee pot filled. Put bricks and stones on anything that can blow over, and will be praying the neighbors' pines don't take out my power lines again.
Oh, you poor thing. Actually, one of my highlights is going out into the snow to shovel or just hike, then come back in for hot cocoa or tea curled up next to the stove. If we make it through Saturday here, we'll be fine!
Sounds like we're all headed to Unicorn1's place. 60s and no chance of 2.5 ft of snow sounds pretty nice...
Only prep I did for this storm is bought popcorn and more Jack D so I can sit in my recliner and watch the bloodbath all weekend on TWC. Ive known some Carolinians to lose their minds when everything turns white. We are forecast light flurries all weekend. Clear skies Sunday.

I'm sure it's a little late to stop you but did you check the grounding. I did the same thing yesterday. Hooked the plow up, made all the connections, hit the button and nothing. Back in the late fall I had taken everything off the inner fender to replace it. I forgot to screw the solenoid back on and that's where it gets it's ground. Screwed it down and Voila, the blade jumped right to life.
Firewood area on the porch holds three cords in three sections. Haven't gone through the first section yet this year so I should be good. I divided it into three sections so that it would be easy to keep it topped up. If I had it in one section, I would be harder to rotate the stock. This way, I use a section, move onto the next section and replenish the first when it is convenient. 3 cords is about a years worth for me.
My wood shed is right out the back door of the shop. Go out back to pee, bring in wood! there's enough for a week next to the stove, and the pellet stove in the house has 3 ton of food. 20 gallons of gas, generator has been run, snowblower run, I'm good all winter, no need for much of anything special.The portion that wouldn't fit in the sheds has been top tarped till i need it. only use about 1 bay each winter...except for last year!!!! Oh, and no chance of babies, i've been neutered
TurboDiesel check your connections also! Dielectric grease them real good and clean any corrosion off first.
