Trying to determine the age of this buck which will also help me choose to take it or not, if the chance arises. It is right in my wood processing area.

I'm going to say 3 1/2 to 4 1/2 years old. Relatively thick body and neck that blends into shoulders and chest. Although mature , another year or two might bring him to his full potential.

^ exactly my thoughts as well, with me leaning towards him being right at 4. He may put on some real inches this next year!

    I'm thinking 3 or 4 like these guys ^^^.

If there's not much pressure from other hunters in that area it might not be a bad thing to let him walk. He's got potential for sure. But it would be mighty hard to let him walk on a cold day in January near the end of the season

Could be 3.5 if you have poor feed, but it doesn't look like it. Only way to find out is shoot him and check his teeth.

That's like a twin to some 2.5 year bucks I've shot-but local conditions have much to do with age.

Around here that would be a 3 year old deer...but they are pretty well fed. I'm not sure what is available in your neck of the woods.

I believe him to be 2.5-has decent mass. Perhaps an early 2.5 with good genetics and decent nutrition. No older than 3, IMHO.

If he's still running this late I'd let him go and shoot that nice doe beside him. I'd guess 2-3 years old as well
