Normally I wouldn't, but I had nothing to do, nowhere to go and wanted to get out of the house, so decided to take a drive. Otherwise would have sat on my azz and watched tv or taken a nap. Heck, driving over there and chatting with him was the highlight of my week (yes, my life is very lame).
I have , and I'm sure I'll do it again , It's not about the $$ for me and extra few bucks for gas is not going to break my budget. It's more about meeting the people in the know and getting to try some pellets that aren't local to you yet , but if they do become available ,you can jump on them before the rest of the folks wise up . Steve and I always have a blast when we take a road trip down to see Joe at Bucks pellets .
I agree! A true pig travels just for the fun of It. I also enjoyed my trip down to bucks and plan on doing it again soon.
Ok so I broke down and picked up some Big Heat from Lowes at 4.98 with my discount . CB1200 totally cranked up , 460 off the glass and 320 from the vents .
These were a bit of a hit or miss for me. Tried them a couple times, some were good sand some not so much.
Right now the stove is eating through a lot of pellets so good heat and cheap works for today . Saving my LACRETE , BLAZER and Olympus as long as I can.
just about to get into my ton of Lacretes as I am finishing the ton of Lignetics.... little dissapointed in the ligs as they are lot more ashy than I exspected...[green lettering bag]... after 3 yrs of burning lots of brands my main goal from here on in is low to zilch ash pellets.. HD which is half mile from me just lowered stove chows from 259.00 down to 199.00 this past week. I won't touch them even at that price....great heat but I don't want to clean my stove as often as many of the ashy pellets require.. guess I'm getting lazy or turning into a pellet snob.. or both.
I got 5-6 bags of the Lignetics green letter this fall and I found the same as you, at least as ashy, if not more so as the FSU's I've been burning for less money. I wouldn't turn my nose at them if the price was right, but at $0.60 more per bag (which was a really good price for them - the place next door to where I got them had them at $1.50 more per bag), I'll pass.
my dealer told me that the ligs we're ashy but I figured they can't be that bad which they were not but close enough that I'll pass on next spring..[got early buy price at the time] he carries mostly softwoods including sample sets which include the Okanagan line.. douglas firs, Platinums etc.... I will go all Softwoods next winter..
You have a Harman correct? A little ash won't hurt it, I promise!! Go load up on chows and save the $$$
I would be LOADED!! Those Harmans have a pretty good ash pan, how long could you go without emptying the ash running Chows?
