    hey, I'm new to the group... Im mostly knowledgeable about Vermont Castings having rebuilt over 100 of them... But have a general and technically background in all wood, gas and pellet stoves and appliances... I am NFI certified and have attended a 3 day class with the deceased Dave Pomeroy(rip) hell of a guy... I'm here to help and assist if needed but mostly to interact with some fellow wood stove lovers

    The Shelbures are very pretty stoves. Just curious, are you going to be sourcing to a VC?

    I already have my eyes on a used VC Encore but I haven't looked at it yet and the parts for an older all cast iron model can be pricey... I'm gonna assess the stove and also considering a Dutchwest new also... It's a rental property so I don't want to put a lot of $ into it... But when we get into our own home again I'll be going VC Encore or Defiant for sure... The new stoves offer a lifetime warranty on the inside brick refractory which is amazing... Although I still do like the all cast iron insides... I'm a catalytic guy and def like the VC... The other option would be the Blaze King Ashford which I absolutely love for many reasons

    What do you think of the reputation the VC stoves have for iffy quality, especially the newer ones.

    The quality of their product has been there consistently, at least the cast iron part... They had an issue with their customer service and warranty in recent years past because of being bought out a few times... They are now settled and secure with newer ownership with a quality company(HHT) and should have no problems moving forward... I think part of the lifetime warranty on the insides of the stove have to do with them realizing they f'ed up royally in the recent past... So, overall I think they are back on the up and up...
