Been awhile; good to be back. Had two tons of Pres-to-Logs delivered earlier this week. They're from the Lignetcs mill out of West Virginia. So far, so good. Then again, most any pellet heats the house up fast this time of year. Good, bad or indifferent, I'll keep you all posted.

Some of the batches have been a bit ashy, But the heat has been really good IMHO. I have a hard time not buying them even with a full stash!!

10 bags of hardwood and 1/2 ton of the softies I always thought they were one of the better big box brands.

    Welcome back Skier

Hi Skier. I picked up 2 tons TSC ligs this year. They were leftovers from last season. Just burned the first couple bags in the past week, and I love them! The heat from these is fantastic!

Edit: Pretty sure the ligs I got are the same product as the PTLs you got...

Great to be back guys! Glad to hear the heat output is good with these. My local HD had a lot of these pellets. They must have had 40-50 tons at one point. Easy to spot in the bright yellow wrapping. That being said, I have noticed a bit of ash with these. I pulled my ash pan today, and it was pretty full for just doing a few overnight burns. Now, I have an insert, so that means cookie sheet ash pan that fills up fast. I'm looking forward to the colder weather so I can load up the hopper and let these heat the house!

I was as the Wallyworld HD yesterday. Still a lot of Pres-to-Logs...easily 20+ tons on hand.

And the guy I spoke to at the HD when setting up my delivery: "You'll be getting the "Presto" logs" I was worried I was going to get a pallet of deep-fryers....

I've only burned a couple bags of the Pres-To's I got from L*wes earlier this year, and I was happy with the heat, lack of ash etc. Of course I run mostly chit pellets, and this is the only time I've had Pres-to's so it is hard to compare what I think with those who burn better stuff on a regular basis.

Where did you find the Pres-To's in CT? I've burned them before and was very happy.

The Wallingford Home Depot had a lot on hand....even last week they still had 20-30+ tons. They have all of their pellets just next to the garden center this year. If you opt to go straight down the driveway instead of taking a left to park, you'll drive right by them. Can't miss the Press-To's; they're wrapped in bright yellow plastic.

I did my first clean out the other day. I haven't been burning at full tilt just yet. But had a few days of 24 hour burns under my belt. Ashy pellet. Filled up the ash pan pretty good and touched the base of the burnpot. However, despite that, I always had a good flame in the firebox.

Burnpot had some pretty good carbon buildup in it. My tool of choice for cleaning it is a flat prybar. Even that had a tough time getting the carbon out. Again, I'm not running the stove at the higher settings like usual, so we'll see how these do during regular colder weather.

Heat output has been good. I haven't done any real scientific testing, but they keep the room nice and warm. Once I get into full burn season, I'll better be able to track the temp via the graph on my wifi thermostat app.

Update now that burning season finally arrived. Good heat from these. But very very ashy. I clean the stove once a week regardless. With these, I may have to clean more often.

    A few pics.

I'm gonna send the company an email. Maybe they'll be interested in the pics.

Never heard back from the company.

I'll probably need another ton of pellets to get me through winter. Won't go with these again. Local HD has Chows and Fireside Ultras.

You say that is from Pres-to's? Wow, what a difference from what they do for my P43. Sure, they are a bit ashy, but only somewhat more so than FSU's for me. Your stove certainly doesn't seem to like them though.

Wonder what would cause a stove to create more ash vs another? Airflow? Overall design?
