I thought it would be fun to have a thread of pics of stoves stuffed to the gills. If you dont have your burning appliance in your sig let us know when you post. Maybe a hint as to what the fuel is too, you can learn alot about wood species by seeing other peoples supplies... Any stove, Epa Stoves, Smoke Dragons, OWB & IWB, Furnaces and Boilers. Hell, id even be inclined to see Pellet guys with overflowing hoppers, show us the empty bags as evidence... I'll start. Tonight was a healthy load, some room in the top corners for more but didnt feel like making baby splits to fill in. The load is 60% mixed red/white oak with the rest being Black Locust.
Beautiful picture. A lot of space in there wasted by bark(?). Bet you could get an hour or two extra burn without it.(?)
I know this load is going to burn around 18 hrs from my history. Fans are on low since its chilly here, Statat the N of normal, AKA 1
Wow, I've only had to load my stove up like that twice in the 4 years I'v been burning. Heck, right now I'm still only putting about 4-5 logs at a time in, which in my stove is only about 1/3 full.
I should have taken a picture last night. ..it was a thing of beauty. 100 or so lbs hedge...it was tightly packed.
I haven't had the need to load my stoves that tight in nearly a year....that may change tonight, I'll post a pic if that happens. Heres a shot of my maple evaporator last year. It's an old 275 gallon oil tank I converted into a huge stove to boil off sap. At full tilt it'll vape off around 25-30 gallons per hour! There are 3 heaping wheelbarrows full of wood in that stove in that pic!!
I guess that is why you use "Overkill" in your sig.... I'll either have one very full stove or two moderatly loaded ones tonight. The high over the next couple of days will be in the mid-20's with lots of wind. Pictures later. KaptJaq
If I need heat i always load the BK full. Just keep that start WAAAYYYY low, burns forever. I still had half a loaf this morning. No messing with it required.
Laat night's load has pretty much run out. I got home from work around 1 and raked front. Ran for an hour and added some wood. mike bayerl That load last night, even with all the bark went 19 hours. Fans were on high for the whole burn.
My goodness, now THAT'S a load. If I jammed the 5100 like that it would probably last until spring! lol
Well here we go again. I hope somebody else plays along soon.... until then more gluttonous BK pics. Less bark this time and i wasnt too lazy to split some down for the nooks and crannies. Tonight is going to be the coldest this season here.....
I can't stuff my stove like that.... It would melt. Wonderwood style stoves have thin burn boxes.....
I got a 1.6 cubic foot firebox in my insert. I split my wood on the small side and I am still lucky to get 6 splits in, but it is usually less especially when I get a coal bed going or I am lazy and slacking on cleaning out the ash. I am lucky I live in a somewhat mild climate
