Spent the night at scout camp on Friday, despite there being no electricity due to some trees falling on the power lines to camp several months back. The power line crew came through and replaced several badly rotted poles and snapped poles, re-ran new cable and all, but it still has to be turned on yet. The Winter Klondike Challenge is coming up in two weeks, so we spent all day Saturday bucking firewood from trees the crews dropped as well as even showing our boys how to mill a log with the Alaskan mill. Got to break in my recently "big bored" 046 as well as use that beautiful MS461 you guys got me for Christmas!!

Ain't nothing on earth as tasty as a campfire breakfast. Even cooked the taters in the bacon grease.....mixed in some local raised sausage and farm fresh eggs....

Milled a beautiful ash log, still have a monster to do up there. We'll use the wood for some scout projects down the road...

The old 046 I rebuilt ran splendidly with the 36" bar, I think it's broke in pretty good! Gotta re-tune it now, because I had it set a little rich with that new big bore piston/cylinder...

We're gonna head up next Saturday to split the 3 cord of ash we bucked up. Here's one of our boys helping with the chores. He's on his way to being a hoarder!!

The only reason you couldn't smell it at your place is because I intercepted it!!!

We wanted to start him out on a mild saw.......I did let him run the 461 for one cut and he was almost scared of it......lol

All joking aside, you guys know I like all pro saws. The important thing is the boys are learning the correct way to do it....with PPE....

    Awe, shucks.....

We have a great group of dad's in our troop, lots of like minded fellas. Some dad's are not really involved, but the kids' mom's have stepped up. And we have a fantastic scout leader, he's an eagle and has 3 sons that all eagled. Yet he stays in it because of his pride in our kids....

"Ain't nothing on earth as tasty as a campfire breakfast." ... that's for sure. Your's looks like the boys were well taken care of. Thanks for posting these pics Scott, showing us all the times you have with the Boy Scouts. The boys couldn't have a better teacher to look up to.

I sure hope you didn't share any of that delicious looking food with the scouts!! I remember back in my early scouting days all the dads would cook food like that and then eat it all in front of us, letting us know how good it was the entire time! Meanwhile, us scouts were left eating the food we had bought and prepared, which amounted to either burnt or under-cooked slop. It forced us to get our act together and do our planning and budgeting better and eventually we were cooking the good stuff as well, and more importantly were able to teach the younger scouts how to follow in our footsteps.
