Recently, I did the amazon Prime thing. We don't have much band width for unlimited streaming, so I've been a bit hesitant to jump into this. Then we found the Music....oh la la! Now I need something to play it around the house! Are there any wifi speakers that might be good for this?

What do you mean by around the house. Portable speaker options? Or through a current entertainment system setup?

There are numerous Bluetooth capable speakers if you access Amazon music through your phone or tablet

Depends on how much you want to spend. But this JBL one has really good sound.

Have you tried encoding your collection and placing it on the micro SD in the Kindle? I just had to try out the PC to Kindle capabilities so I encoded two of my more recent purchases and transferred them to the Kindle, I'm listening to them now.

Find an old but high end receiver and some great speakers. Add a bluetooth adapter and you'll be better off than those tiny BT speakers. I got a once $1500 dollar receiver off craigslist for $25.00. came with no speakers but a week later got lucky and found matching speakers with a free sign on the curb. 4 feet tall yamaha's. the subwoofers needed new cones. That took 30 minutes and 20 bucks. The bluetooth to receiver adapter was another 20 on sale. Sounds unbelievable.

It'll knock your socks off! Since then i've added to it as well. Picked up some more speakers, put them in other rooms. The receiver can support 3 sets of speakers. I leave its volume on fairly high, and with the bt adapter i can stream to it from my phone and control the volume and music from the phone.

I have noticed that I enjoy not being tethered to one room in order to listen to music. I really am tasked with too many projects to listen to a stereo that resides in one room, while I need to be out in the fields, the greenhouse or the kitchen. I live in an area that doesn't have free WiFi every 100 yards, I learned about that when I got my Kindle and needed to upload a book. Ironically, I had to drive 18 miles and go to the public library to find a free WiFi.

I had a nice stereo system, with an 8 track, cassette player, turntable, receiver, tuner, amp etc... one by one they were replaced with new technology. They took up too much space and time to just keep them clean. So we sold them to someone on Craiglist for $25 ? Nah, we gave it to one of my son's with the arrival of the iPod. Which I have now replaced with with my iPhone.

I'm still uploading my vinyl onto the computer and I'm probably half way through it. I would like to be able to enjoy my music on the go. I'm thinking that the next device I carry around with me needs the storage capability or I need to understand the use of the "cloud". I would like one device that I can take with me, and amplify it while I might be working for a period of time in one place.

So maybe the answer is a good WiFi speaker, and a pair of WiFi earphones for the tractor? I was reading about the various attributes or detractors of the many choices as supplied by Amazon.:hair:

You can upload your songs to Amazon music, the first 250 are free then there is a small fee after that. Then. Wherever you have access to the internet you can listen to your library. Google and Apple are other options as well.

I had opted to get into Amazon Prime only because I found there were certain products that are unavailable locally or the cost was too high (as they were the only game in town). I'm not sure of the logic of storing my music on a server and then having to pay for access to my content. Then say a year from now they change the way they do business and I need to readjust. I am enjoying the diverse music available, I think I'll focus on solving the wifi speaker thing. The current dilemma is the security of using wifi...someone can hack your wifi and listen into your conversations etc?

I thought about this also. This area is so far behind the current movement of technology. I believe I saw someone using an iPhone to pay for or allow the store to scan a coupon while standing on line at the local grocery store. That's it, the one and only time I've seen any use of the current tech up here. They don't use the new chip readers for CC's even. Most local businesses prefer cash or checks still. Adding more worry is we've had too many incidents with our personal vita being involved with corporate data hacking, even our federal government. Follow up letters advising us of how they will continue to protect our information (barn doors open, horses gone) while offering free credit monitoring. :headbang:
