    It's all basically relevant.

The high tech stuff has driven many pellet stove owners to the point of insanity.

These same failure types are all the same across the board.

Too much high tech is not the answer.

I have had a cell phone since 91 and currently have an iphone 6 plus and love it.

This said, it does not control my pellet stove or anything really "mission critical"

I don't go anywhere very far without it.

Too many things can happen, and I need to be able to contact.

Also use it to handle banking and such.

Don't carry a check book any more and don't use credit cards.

I strictly use debits and only keep a tid bit of $$$ in any account I carry.

Sooo, being in touch is needed.

A few moments is all it takes normally to handle things.

Finger print password protection on the little beast.

And I'm the one ranting about hating high tech.

I'm on my 4th iphone now and have not had many issues.

As I understand it by the time you figure out that you're the slave is when a corporation, the NSA or Homeland security, can tell you more about yourself than you knew.

Yeah, that's a mixed blessing. The high tech helps in many instances to keep the cost down, but has the downside you mentioned. It's cheaper to produce a little circuit board with a membrane pad than to use discrete components and switches, both is material and labor costs.

My car (a 2010 Ford) has WAY too much electronic stuff, including Bluetooth phone connections, etc. The Ford forum is full of complaints about this stuff not working...I miss my stone-age '57 Plymouth with an AM radio!

If it wasn't for the Farmers Market's I wouldn't have gotten the iPhone so many years ago. I needed to update websites and take CC#'s. A convenience for the customer, an inconvenience for the farmer. Cash is the best crop I can grow, there are no service fees on cash.

I use a CC for virtually every purchase I make, pay it off every month. Get free money. And if someone steals my account, oh well .It's not my money. Had it happen once and the CC company took care of it, no problem. Got the wife in the same program. She was swiping that bank card all over town and if it was ever stolen it is a much bigger headache.

That's how we acquired the Francesca stove here: the PO's father gifted them the stove, the control pad was dinged / a wire was damaged during the move, the PO could not set the stove correctly, due to the damaged wire and stuck keypad.

We were very fortunate they decided to CL list the stove, vs. hauling it to the dump.

many, many years ago i remember my Dad cutting up credit cards that came in the mail (1960's). he said that it would create a serious problem for a lot of people. He was right!!! as a student of that wisdom, i have NEVER had a balance on a credit card...pay it every month. Everyone should look to do the same. it is the most expensive credit around. ....climbing off the soap box now

I have the iphone 6s plus and my favorite thing is the fingerprint unlock. It has put an end to my wifes endless inquiries! not that i do anything "wrong" but i run a business. clients call my phone constantly. she would guess those 4 digit passwords in the days of old and question me about all the calls from female clients. *arrggh*

Back on track, when technology is applied properly it is a great thing. it can be a life saver and makes life easier. One must question though, is my life really easier when my toaster texts me that my pop tart is ready?

Tech is great, I just don't want to fight with it in some places (My heating system)

If my phone quits I just hit the Verizon store and get a fresh one then refresh from my cloud backup.

    I'm no stranger to tech.

Here is a piccy of my killer AEROCOOL "STRIKE X AIR"

Tossed this beast together a couple years back and love it.

    It looks BAD AZZ

Got soooo tired of those egg shell colored boxes.

This thing is real easy to work on too.

Tip the front up and everything is right there.

NO GAMER BOX, but plenty fast enough for what I need.

This unit feeds a 50 inch wall mounted screen that's about 8 feet away from me.
I sit back in my recliner with my feet up and the wireless KB and mouse at the ready.

If need be the fine print can be 3/4 inch high

A very relaxing way to come to the FHC or search for pellet stove parts :D

Thanks for the warm welcome. I've been burning pellets for many years. I recognize an awful lot of names on here from another forum. So this is where everyone went...
