Greetings! I've been lurking for just a couple weeks, but have been reading posts for some time now. Currently, I don't have a woodburner, but am moving into my new to me home in April, and it has an older stove. I believe the stove is an Earth Stove, but I'll have to check for sure once I'm moved in. Thanks to this and another forum, I've been gathering, cutting, and splitting for over a year and have a few cords css and hopefully ready for next year. I know everyone likes pics, so here's a couple of a recent cutting.
Greetings from Omaha.Lots of good advice so don't be shy. What part of the good life state are you located?
Welcome to the FHC. Your starting off at the right place and on the right foot. Good for you. Nice work
Welcome aboard from Michigan, jtstromsburg . Pics of firewood are a great way to get started here. Nice. Earth stove, eh? My SisIL had one in the home she bought, but we bartered it out of the house. Went to a neighbor for some work he did. We'd love to see some pics of that when you get a chance.
jtstromsburg welcome to the land of BTU's. Glad you jumped in. Looks like you are getting ahead of the game even before the game starts. Good job!
Welcome! Looks like yo u are off to a great start. Most get the stove and then think about wood. You will thank yourself later for starting on that now.
Welcome to the forum jtstromsburg. Lurking is okay but glad you joined. Make yourself at home. It is great that you are getting wood ahead now to burn next winter. When you get enough for next year, don't stop cutting! Get on the 3 year plan and you'll be smiling all the way as that pays great dividends. The Earth stove was good in its time but there are many stoves on the market now that are much much better. And just to let you know what it can mean to get a newer stove, we went from an old Ashley stove to a Woodstock Fireview. The Fireview is a smaller stove than the Ashley was but wow, what a difference! We used to be cold all winter when we had the Ashley but now we keep our home around 80 degrees all winter and love it. In addition, we burn only half or less wood than we used to burn. So the newer stoves can be a good investment as they save you work, money and keep you a lot warmer plus they hold the fire much longer which you would enjoy.
