Flint, MI- water crisis

Erin brokovich is involved worth this. ... Flint fricked up.

 

There is blame enough to go around...... I am mad at any cover up. However, before the switch was made, everyone complained about the cost of Flint water that comes from Detroit. The switch was made to (hopefully) get out from the control of Detroit's water rates for Flint. It was seen as a great step a year or two ago....

 

My understanding is that Flint neglected to put an additive into the water, cost would have been like $30 per month. The additive does something to negate the oxidation of the lead pipes that introduce the lead to the water supply?

 

This is why you will never catch me drinking city water. Who knows what kind of scary stuff is in it. I run a reverse osmosis filtration system for my already clean well water

 

The fluorine/ fluoride is the scariest part of city water. It has no place in drinking water.

 

My rule of thumb is if I wouldn't consume whatever additives they are putting in the water by themselves, then I'm not going to consume them diluted into drinking water either.
Never gonna catch me sipping a cup of chlorine or fluoride

 

There isn't much/any lead in the source of the water. The lead is coming from the solder and pipes in the system and from the individual homes. The Flint river seems to be more acidic than Lake Huron, causing it to leach out lead more easily. The additive would be to lower the pH. Maybe when they initially tested the water, it was within an acceptable pH range - I am not sure.

 

I knew the lead was coming from the plumbing, not the water. The water needed treated and was neglected. I have a friend in the public water business, he says this problem was pure ignorance and neglect.

Getting back to the issue of plumbing of the individual homes, I don't think I'm all that convinced it is reason. The same thing would be happening all over the country with all the existing plumbing systems, no?

 

I think its more the underground pipes..... There are undocumented uses of lead pipes... underground.

 

Ah! Again, I wonder how many more municipalities are in the same boat?
All old mining communities where I'm at, so.....



Sorry, I had to stop and chew some paint chips there for a minute.

 

i was born in 1983, i have to go outta my way to find quality lead paint chips. Look for the white paint.....
