That is the past. It's all 6" SS liner now. My chimney was also cleaned well from that. One last hot scrubbing. . Fwiw, my chimney was basically designed to be "cleaned" that way. As wrong as that sounds, that's what my father said. This house was built in the 60's so they were used to burning all sorts of weird things. On a plus not, the burnt creosote was easier to clean out just being where the damper is.
You mean I should not buy firewood in little mesh sacks? People who have a fireplace and want a nice little romantic fire will see those and think, "Hey, it is only five bucks" but the amount of wood will quickly go. My friend has a fireplace and it will eat wood like no tomorrow. But it is romantic.
Around these parts when drive the back roads, everybody and his brother is selling " camp wood" out front. Self service, always pine, but you get a much better deal. A little cash for the locals.
