I had left the new 20-25 foot flag pole up that we bought this past summer, a wind gust came up from the southeast and blew this limb just over the top of it, once the wind took a break we took it down. In picture number two you can see the 4 or 5 foot section that we left outside. Our temps have gone up to 47 so when that cold front moves through the winds should get stronger.
Sorry to hear about your flag pole getting taken out... Could have been worse I guess, like your car or house or coconut! It's suppose to get really windy here tonight also. Hope you don't lose anything more..... Getting colder also, time to bring out the special reserves.
The tree limb went over the top of the flag pole so we took it down when the winds took a break, no damage was done to the flag pole.

Winds should be pretty fierce. We hit upper 50's, heavy rain overnight, and a couple bands of heavy chit passing through as we speak. With your snowmelt, the trails will be rock solid with this cold coming!
Good move on the flagpole. Really should have on at the cottage; I only have those house mounted brackets for a shorter flag pole.
We have the house mounted flag on the front of the house but the wife eyed the flag pole at a local hardware store so we bought it. This is the second limb that came off that tree, two years ago I had the splitter stored where the wood is stacked, we had some high winds and the limb landed next to the splitter so we'll drop that Pine before it gets bad.
I took a ride around the property today after the high winds, I spent most of my time picking up smaller chit from the main trails, I did pull a small Hemlock from the brook and then came home to take care of the downed Pine limb. The wife had the basement temp at 78 when I came in, boy did that feel good.
Not that I could see, I did find about three more American Hophornbeam that will get added to the stacks. Certified106 , I have a few more areas to check that includes the big hill that runs the length of the brook which I usually stay off of until spring, it's a big drop on both sides.
You know what they say: it's not the length of your flagpole, it's how you use it! Glad there was no real damage done!
