Seems to me their Price Guaranty / Price Match should apply to their own stores? At least in the same area, same state? Anybody ever try that angle?
Yeah, a few weeks ago - nice lady at the Service desk just smiled and politely said, 'Sorry, that doesn't apply.' ( IOW, Stores set their own pricing, to the best of my knowledge. ) No problem on coupon, contractor, or Military discounts though - they are happy to oblige. Never hurts to ask though - worse they can say is 'No' ..
Same thing around here , stores can set their own price that's what I was told last year when I asked why the price difference . And when they do , Me and my Cash are going some place else " Have a nice day " azzhole .
Walmart in Central MA....Worcester "SuperCenter" is about 75 cents a bag more than Leicester (Leicester seems to hold at $5, no matter what bag). Just 8.8 miles driving distance between the two. Leicester is a couple more miles for me, but the access and checkout times seem to be a bit better.
No question about which store wants your business. And they figure if they break-even on pellets, they are banking on you buying other items during the same visit.
That's an excellent price Will - I'd be buying some. I haven't checked prices in our immediate area in the past few weeks, too busy w/ work and other stuff, but I don't think I'll find -any- pellet for that pricing in this area - last time I saw that kind of pricing was at Walmart in Portsmouth, NH for MWP @ 5.00 / bag, that was 6-8 weeks ago.
Leicester could be considered more "farm country" if that's possible being a bordering town of Worcester. The Worcester store certainly caters to a more urban population. As you put forth above, pellets for many are probably considered a milk run, while you're there there's a good chance of picking up something else. Years ago I knew someone that would bring home a couple of gallons of diesel every day...used it for home heating. Not a good time in his life.
I've had to do that here, more than once, when money was tight, and the Oil Co.'s delivery schedule was a week out, or more.. We are very fortunate to have a local fuel station (within 5 miles) that sells off-road (non-taxed) Diesel, for less $$$ vs. the Oil Co.'s #2 fuel oil delivery price, and the Diesel burns cleaner/hotter in the Dino Burner, as a bonus. Loading pellets in the hopper is a hellavalot easier than lugging & dumping 5 gal. cans of Diesel, that's for sure.
Pellets Direct in Uxbridge MA seem to have Cash and Carry specials on a regular basis. They don't advertise the exact brand...but they'll give you a hint. This last week it was Premium & Super Premium Pellets From Canada, British Columbia & Alberta Regular $6.50-$7.00 per bag, $4.99 per bag Cash & Carry (love the wording on that...I was unaware Canada was a province like the others) 10 bag minimum purchase, cash, @ $4.99. Not bad if you're local to the area. Wood Pellet Pricing: Pellets Direct Wood Pellet Delivery Available .
How about the "Free shipping over Xxx.xx$ Buy online from the store with the better price and let them sip to your door? EDIT... Never mind, looked online and the products are all "in store only" sorry.
I saw that - occasionally they put the random ad or two up on CL - excellent prices. Being in the woods of NH, it's a hike to Uxbridge, MA, but one of these days the stars will align where I have business in that area / I'm able to stop in & pickup some Blazers, -really- want to try some of those in the stove here.
I've been to Stoddard quite a few times in years past. Nice little town. Beautiful old church (and that's coming from an agnostic/athiest/humanist). Town Hall was a slice of NH life. My last visit up there was for a funeral. But yeah, it is a hike to get to from here. Google Maps show as under 2 hours, always seemed like more.
For sure, I don't get it with these Lowe's stores around me, and there pellet prices. I could understand a difference from state to state, but local to local, I don't get it. Just this morning, here's what I'm seeing, a Lowe's 10 mile north of me has all there pellet brands @ $5.18 a bag ($259 a ton). Now a Lowe's 10 miles south of me has all there pellet brand @ $5.58 a bag (279 a ton). Now I would prefer to go to the Lowe's south of me because they have one different other brand, that I don't mind burning. Here's another kicker again, now if I go 20 miles south of me, another 10 miles past the 1st Lowe's south of me, they have there pellets @ $5.18 a bag ($259 a ton), but nothing I would prefer. They would not sale me a ton for $5.18 a bag ($259 a ton). I told them at there Lowe's stores 10 miles south & 10 miles north of them are selling there pellets for $5.18 a bag ($259 a ton), but they would not budge off of $5.58 a bag ($279 a ton). I DON'T GET IT.
a friend in the communications supply business used to say to me "there's no point in churning dollars" these HD's are seeing that.
McManus in Barrington NH, has the Platinums currently at $248/ton. That is a great price for a quality pellet.... Dan
