I've been test driving the truck for a couple days, my wife had to take it the other day, was the only option. She came back all smiles so I think it may be a done deal.
Lots of helpful comments, thanks everyone, love this place! Rust is a big issue up here, but not with this truck, not right now. My boss has his own shop with a lift, the truck got a LOT of attention. The new mechanic at my local shop has the same truck! just an automatic. He told me about everything people brought up here as well. He said the truck looks great...should be a done deal, stay tuned.
I'm gonna chime in on the plow situation. Yes you can plow with that. You will have as much into the plow and install as you do in the truck unless you get a worn out leaky plow, and install in yourself. Will it plow snow? All day long. Put 1000lbs of sand or salt in the bed to offset the plow weight. Is it a commercial rig? Hell no, but you'll never own a blower again after having a plow. Use 4lo, only drop the blade after getting moving, and don't act like it's a bulldozer. Plow with the storm, don't wait until you have 15 inches to start. If you did get a plow, you can make the plow $ back pretty quick doing a few driveways for cash. Just make sure u have good insurance. Waiting for pics of dogs in the truck....they gonna love it too
I always hit the brakes (clutch in your case) and raise the plow as the truck stops against a pile. Never push into the pile. ^^^this^^^ or use an atv to plow ...............
brother ran small plow company yeah he had his 3500 dual dump.. but his little truck I drove was an s10 with 6.5 foot plow see thru forgot name plow with down pressure. plowed with it for 6 years before rust at it,, so it can be done
For hauling wood on short trips or junk or lumber front he store thats fine and a good deal too. If your in the rust belt check that too.
Oh and nothing sells for book value. You can knock 10-20% off that. KellyBB is high NADA is the right price. But depends on if your the buyer or seller I guess
I was going to add that. I would offer what he would get as a trade in. That would be less than blue book.
Friend in college had the same truck. Dual exhaust no mufflers. Sounded pretty good for a v6 Well his was older was like a mid 90s
I have an 06 Chevy with the 6 banger and 5-speed 8ft bed and just got 70k on her. It is a smaller truck but for when I don't need to put miles on my 3500, it's amazing! I call her "the little 6-cyl that could" because she will never give up! If you want a light duty truck they are great, but they are glorified S-10s. Can only handle about 5k on the trailer (going up a canyon and 11% grade) and maybe 1000-1500 payload. For that price I would hop on it like white on rice!
The price, the mileage and the history tells the story of a good value. It is going to be hard to take the dogs and haul wood at the same time with no back seat, but I am sure you will work that out also. Look at it this way. It is a good entry for a first truck. Later on, you might want the extended cab, larger engine, and maybe automatic. I had a Z71 and loved it until it rusted out. Brakes are what goes on those. Lines etc. Rear bumper always rusts out. To me, you have an excellent value there. You can always sell it and get your money back later on if you find you want something else.
Yea thats a good price. I would of thought the book value would be higher but I guess the v6 regular cab keeps it low??
