I think this is going to be an easy question to get answered...

Tonight I was putting together a pretty nice project saw that's been waiting it's turn for many months; an 084RW. This is the first heated handle saw I've built and it was going well until I put the wrap handle on and realized I don't know the correct way to route the wires from the handle into the carb box.

Can anyone assist me on this? I looked (note: saw is completed assembled by this point) around as best I could and don't see a 'plug' designated for the routing that I needed to punch or drill out like the normal spot for the heating switch. I'm feverishly thumbing through the IPL and images on mediaCAT to see where a hole & grommet would be, but wanted to try to get this post out before everyone went to bed like I'll be doing soon.

    Thanks!

Got it! A buddy of mine had one of these once that he sold and he sent me the photos he had of it. I could tell from the photos that the wired ran in between the right side handle mounting and the tank housing. Sure enough, I pulled the handle off and saw a small/oblong divot that needed to be drilled out where the wires needed to go. Just couldn't tell that from looking at the inside of the carb box. It's not 100% where I want it yet, but it'll be showing up the Chainsaw Pics thread soon...

Glad you got it figured out bud. I was out of town for a couple days. Otherwise I would have went and looked and seen how my 440 is wired

When you bringing some saws over? I have a 440/460 ported hybrid you need to run along with several others.

When I got that 084 back together I was going to suggest this weekend, but rain all day Saturday followed by a cold day Sunday just didn't sound like fun... :tears:

He does! But he also has a super-friendly chocolate lab who calls it 'home' that I would hate to scare out into the bad weather. :singingintherain::shiver:

Can you retro fit heated handles into a saw without it?

Yes, but it's not easy or cost-effective. You would need to rustle up all of the components; flywheel, generator, coil, wrap handle with wiring, rear handle wires, switch, etc.
