Well, here comes our cold snap I've been talking about. It's going to drop temperature mega amounts on Sunday. It also appears to stay for few days. Ha! See what Google did? Continue researching chainsaws. Heck yeah, continue researching chainsaws...
Been cold the last few nights down to single digits.. Running full loads of hard as a rock, bone dry, bark free black locust.. This stuff is as good as it gets!
Horkn, I'll be lucky to get into the single digits on Sunday. Think I may end up with a pot of chili on the basement stove and perhaps try to make some fire starters. (No, the two aren't related in any manner!)
We've had a great warm winter so far, not too many -20'C days. This weekend is supposed to dip into the -20's so I will probably stay out of the bush and hug the wood stove instead.
yes even win 95 had the feature IIRC - but it was easier in 95, NT, 2000 to create "hotkeys" as I recall them? it can't burn wood efficiently, but the CRT attached is good at consuming kwh's inefficiently
Hovering around and just bellow the freezing mark till friday night. Getting some snow on friday and then the big chill hits. Steady drop in temps from then on through mid next week. Pulled some elm from the spring designated pile to mix with the red oak for the next couple days to burn a "little" cooler. House is 73-74 currently, will stay there till the weekend. Oh and the garage is 57ish with letting some of the heat out into there.
Felt like there was just a touch of freezing rain last evening. Today, we are supposed to be on the upside of freezing! Tomorrow, too! Then we'll be in the mid 20's on Sat. Snow everyday except Mon, but I'm thinking that'll change.
We had 15 this morning so we loaded up the Liberty with Beech. With this new cold front coming in on Monday, I'm glad we saved the two racks of American Hophornbeam so we can burn that. We'll push in more Beech tomorrow so all our racks are full.
Yup. See that now. Will be good to get the top of the ground frozen again after this warmer weather melts this snow and then the rain hits and really melts it and softens everything up. It will be like spring Sunday afternoon with temps in low 40s.
36 here going down to 27. Trying a load of just black cherry for the night; one 7 inch round and 3 splits. Loaded at 7 pm, hoping it holds the house at 68 or above until 6 am; currently 72.
