Running on #4 this moment. -29C outside and 25C in the house. A little corn in my hopper. New thermostat ordered, hope it works. It's the LUX one further up in the thread I mentioned about.

Sweet. Let me know how it works out for you. NICE 25 C in the house eh? That just the 50F running? How big is your place if you don't mind me asking?

1500 upstairs, 1500 downstairs! Just the 50F running and it was 23C in the morning so I lost some ground. The house is on the southside of the lake and most of my windows and walkout basement is facing the north. The price to pay for the view:picard:Next cleaning before a cold snap, the Lacrete's are going into the hopper:smoke:

So it's 12 degrees outside, and now I remember why I saved the fireside ultra pellets for fall, early winter. On level 4, it takes forever for the house to actually raise 1 degree on the LUX. It's warm so not a big deal but I'm sure it's wasting fuel. Same problem last year with these pellets. So I change to level 5 and the furnace roars and temps climbs and Lux kicks off in half the time.
I guess the feedrate is too slow on level 4 for these pellets. Anyway to adjust it? Or just run them on level 5 and be done until they run out.

Triple A, can you adjust feed trim up (+) in the Control Panel on your 50F? That's what I do on the Francesca here when I get a bag or two that feed slow, then just drop it back to (0) / as needed. ( Or, just blast them out on level 5, that works too.. )

You can only adjust level 1 trim. 2-5 are preset depending on fuel type which is selectable.

Wow, so you have a good sized place then and it keeps it that warm? Hmmmm how old is it? Is it well insulated? You have outside air correct?

Sounds like you have a really nice place. Would love to have a place on the water.

The 50F's don't have a federate adjustment per say. Which is a bit of a miss as far as I am concerned. To me if you are burning pellets it's critical to be able to adjust you federate in order to get your stove to work properly.

Correct, what I have learned though, is that depending on the fuel type you set it to you can get a higher federate as well. Do you have the LCD display? I have the older display so if I set it to fuel type 5, I get a quicker federate. If burning wood pellets and I use fuel type 1, the unit won't work at all!

Triple has the LCD board. Did my quick visit to Old Farts, traded a bag of Cubex for one of Ambiance. Furnace looks like brand new out of the box. Wait a minute, it is new:thumbs: Open basement with room to move about is real nice, sometimes finished basements gets in the way. It has a nice flame for #1 setting. You see the flame compared to mine from last year. This year my #1 is much better, I also see the flame. So the mod on the beefed up exhaust fan has help alot

That's what I was saying, you can select different fuel types and it changes feed rate but also how often your furnace goes into pot change. I decided to mix some hardwood into the firesides which are softwoods and what a difference!!

I adjusted the idle draft a week ago and no more sticky spots on the glass, now white grey dust that wipes off. I can actually still see flame over a week later.

Looking at Old Fart`s pics he`s got a great install. I`d really like to get my hands on a new 50F to play with! Oh well, just have to keep plugging away on mine. Glad your #1 heat flame is better. I think I still have some tuning on mine to get it perfect, but haven`t spent too much time playing with it until I start using the t-stat mode.

Mint. Let us know how the Ambiance pellets work out. My McFeeter`s are burning well in the 50F, one heat setting 2 the distribution fan stays on a lot more than when using the Lacwood pellets. The McFeeter`s produce more ash, but I can live with that if they bun hotter.

The only issue is, I was talking to Gary McFeeter yesterday and I guess their feed stock has changed and they are using a different mill to produce their pellets this year. He knows there is more ash so he labled them as a standard pellet instead of premium, yet the price is still a premium price. I bought 6 bags today to try them and see how they are going to work. I`ve got them burning in the Harman and so far it`s iffy. There are a chit load of fines in the bags, and a lot of small pellet pcs. So far the burn I`m seeing has lots of sparks flying all over the place too.

Nice. Still better than my place!!! The 2 x 6 makes a huge difference in holding the heat in.

Sweet, I`m still getting a sooty burn, yet the ash is a great colour. Guys are guessing I still have a leak somewhere leaking to the soot deposits.

My bad, must have misread your post.

No prob, your right though.....if you can adjust to allow a bit more pellets to keep the fire nice and big for those pellets that burn out faster it would be a great feature. I am sure it's only a software update. But I'v learned last winter and was reminded this winter for those pellets that just won't stay hot, either mix them, or up them to level 5 and watch em burn.

Yeah, I've run in to the same thing with the Lacwood pellets, maybe not as bad as you, but it's still noticeable in the flame size on setting 2 between McFeeter's and Lacwoods. I think the 50F is going to be a unit that needs the best pellets to get the most heat due to lack off feed adjustment. That or start adding corn, which is something I'd like to do. I think I can get a hot burn with cheap pellets, but it's only worth it if I can get cheap corn lol.

I'm slowly finding out the purchases on rye seeds carry no Horse chit Taxes. $160 ton and no taxes is a no brainer. Corn should be the same if bought not in a store but rather with the local farmer. I know of a source with cheap industrial pellets with more ash but a little far to get. Something to consider for future buying.

Nice! I want to try cherry pits and see how they do. I almost got a large box full to try out but guy never came through. Mixing chit pellets with better pellets , corn , rye, pits, or any bio fuel works.
