Finally winter here and my seasoned oak and Fireview and doing a fine job of keep the whole house toast. Crusing along with a setting of one on the draft, at 450'F to 525' and taking it easy here in New England.

Super high tech engineering. I think it's copyrighted by Papadave. Just a simple paperclip straighened out and then clipped and bent to fit the whole and then slightly bent to be on the same horizontal plane as the thermometer pointer.

Really a nice way to see what your stove did while you weren't watching.

    Hippie,

That's a great looking stove you have there! The fire looks like it's just cruising along just barely sipping any wood...

Every time I see a Fireview, it makes me second guess my choice of stove.... Just really like the design and efficiency of the layout. Does the glass stay that clean?

The glass stays pretty clean. In shoulder season, when burning really low and slow it may fog over a bit, but open it up and put some seasoned wood in, and it cleans itself. It's good on wood, and a nice stove for a mid-sized home. 1500sq ft or a tad larger. I'm quite happy with mine. It's a great overnight stove. Always have plenty of hot coals 12 or more hours later.

Having seen just now you got an IS, that's a great stove too. You can heat a bigger place with it too.

I love the look of the fireview, the more I see it and hear how happy people are with it the more I think I'm gonna have to move up to one. Right now I don't dare go longer than 4 hours without a reload or I will find myself with a cold stove :hair:

Hey Oldhippie , love your picture quality and wonderfully clean glass. I've been burning way too much black cherry and while the glass is not sooty, it does have a bit of fly ash on it. I've really enjoyed learning how to best run this simple stove. I see a max STT indicator in my future; I've been watching pretty closely and pretty sure max for me has been 575 ... might get a bit nervous if it starts getting close to 700. Your pictures make me want to upgrade to a real camera instead of using my old cell phone. Here is what my glass looks like.

I've only got a little over a week on that glass since it's last been cleaned. I'm way over the "gotta keep my glass clean" syndrome. We put our Christmas tree in the living room next to the stove, so this is what it was doing at Christmas. My glass isn't always perfect. I just got lucky on this one.

I am using a Canon 60D with an EFS 17-85IS 4.0F lens. I thook these pictures hand held at releatively slow shutter speeds which makes the results even more remarkable, as slow speeds/hand held shots can suffer from blur. The IS in the lens stands for Image Stabilation, which helps a lot, and also I use the latest version on Adobe Photoshop which includes new image sharpening technology to help eliminate blur effects caused by camera shake.

Sorry for the long winded answer, but as you can see there are numerous factors that all add up to lots of experience and a very nice set of equipment.

Thank you for the compliment. It's been a hobby for a long time. Even longer than burning wood and that's been 40 years.

    Love the Fireview, Old.
I don't think my glass would get that clean any more.
Is that the grey or flat black cast iron? I'm guessing its black
Kinda hard to tell for sure

It is the Charcoal. The charcoal is not quite the matte black but almost.

That is a right purdy stove you have. Me is freezing me uh, well, anyway, it is cold here, no nice cozy fire here for me.:( I have the electric furnace set on 11 °C, high enough to keep the house plants from freezing. I am holed up in my little room with an electric heater.

Maybe I can drop by for a cup of cocoa and sit by your cozy stove for a bit.
