warmed up to 4 high today is 8, Ash in IS.. Sugar maple on deck... daughter got up at 7 said it's a little chilly in here. stove room 77 her bedrooms 69. Honey I love you but you got to toughen up a little bit... Driveway, 4 inches of powder on 2 inches of frozen slop.. slop has 2 ton of sand in/on it will snow blow later
I just checked two weather sites, it looks like we're heading down to minus 10 tonight, the Liberty will be loaded up will Beech and the Pellet Stove will be set at 77. We could be getting some ice late Friday night with rain the next day, I'll be doing some plowing with the Rhino tomorrow so that natural drain from the low side of the house is open to the front. This Friday. Sleet and freezing rain late; otherwise, a bit of ice in the evening; cloudy Max UV Index: N/A Thunderstorms: 0% Precipitation: 0.3 in Rain: 0 in Snow: 0 in Ice: 0.3 in
It's 12 outside, so the jotul asked for some heat so I fed it locust and ash now the hell raiser is happy
3 right now. House is holding at 72 with one good sized split of Maple. We'll see how long that lasts before I need to add some wood. Back bedroom is closed off for another hour or 2, so when the door gets opened, I expect the house temp to drop. Might pull a bunch of small coals out of the stove to fit more wood for overnight.
12°F current going down to 4°F windchill -7°F I'm not acclimated to this yet since its been a warm winter so far. Dog chit was rock solid in minutes this evening. Made for easy cleanup. Loading up all oak tonight......
Yeah that makes it easier eh? Frozen chit is way easier. Problem is the bin gets full of snow to. Not a big deal until spring arrives........
10 deg here, going to 6-7 tonight. First Black Locust fire since I was a teenager. Whoo eee is this stuff potent! Beautiful blue secondaries. It seems to alternate between lazy blue secondaries to intense orange inferno.
Well, I guess I'm not too welcome here any longer with this update. After reading some of the posts of single and below 0 temps, well, err, ahhh, Supposed to be near 30 or over 30 the next 5 days! Then, on Sunday, the drop starts. All you burners with the cold temps, stay warm and burn safe.....I'll be there shortly!
Mid 20's here.... Pecan now, BL ova night, supposed to bottom out in mid teens. Living room(above the stove in the basement is toasty.
Our temps will rise again thursday on for a couple days. Rain forecasted friday, will it freeze is the question? Temps drop again next week.
Getting a little chilly out there, 15 right now, supposed to be 6 overnight, burning ash and a little oak, going to load the Lopi up with hickory for overnight.
Same here in western WI, Saturday will be the last warm day. Sunday on is highs in the single digits, lows will be single digits below 0. Going to be interesting keeping the house warm during the day while at work with those temps. Wife no longer stays at home during the day anymore like she did running an in home daycare. So no mid afternoon load. The stove will go 10ish hours, been fine with the 15-20 temps but lower than that may require some NG back up till I get home around 5:15ish. No biggie as its cheap enough!
Just threw some Crepe Myrtle on a bed of oak coal coals, split of oak on top until I cram it full for an overnight burn. For some reason or other I can raise the house temp 3-4 degrees on a few splits, but my trailer load of wood exponentially empties itself while I'm at work ..... That damm secondary air control lever is way to hard to push in apparently, or flames mean heat - the training process will continue
Burning the Red Oak and Maple. 74 degrees and 21 degrees...you guess which is inside and which is out
Nice to see some of you folks are getting some cold weather! I didnt want to hog all the fun . Ive warmed up here quite a bit to the point where there was no bite in the air today! 17F right now makes it easy for my stove to heat the house, I dont mind brisk weather but lows of -11F was getting a bit tiring.... no records by any means but I prefer it a bit warmer.
12 here going down to 10 is the forecast. House at 72, stove loaded @9 pm with white and red oak ... curious what the house temp will be @6 am. Finally starting to get interesting.
It's minus 5, the bottom row is American Hophornbeam and the rest is Beech and Sugar Maple. http://forestry.ohiodnr.gov/hophornbeam
