-25 this morning at 6:30! Expecting a high of -15 today! The little Woodstock Keystone continues to impress me. I woke up to a 73 degree stove room with plenty of coals for a reload after a good 10 hour burn. It's a little cooler 66 in my far bedroom but that's fine for me. 3 loads per day burning around #1 seems to do the trick in below zero weather but I may burn a little hotter today.
I thought for sure that my stove wouldn't keep up last night and the furnace would kick on with the forecasted low of -15 and -40 windchill...but it did. I ran a full load of hedge through the King in 14 hours...I ran it HARD. Fans on high and T-stat 4.5/6.
it was 15 degrees this morning with a -10 feel and my living room was 80 degrees and the rest of the house was 74 degrees. I am guessing the temps didn't drop as quickly last night as they thought they would.
-2F this morning + wind chill. The wife put 3 splits in the Keystone at 8pm last night. I had intended to wait until bed time and stuff it. 8am this morning, 69F in the house.
It's the best thing I have come across in this cold weather. You can burn like crazy and still have a cord or two left.
Like you, I did fine with no furnace assist. Set the alarm for 3.5 hours after I fell asleep and reloaded with oak. No hedge but white oak is still about 24 million btu's per cord, and that was enough with a reload in the middle of the night. It's about -13 here presently. After this, winter is going to be a snap!!!
I don't know if the furnace kicked on overnight because I slept through it. Better living through chemistry.
+1 Earthquake don't wake me up, furnace don't have a chance. Furnace blower kicks on ever 3o minutes (for 5 min) to move air, if the heat kick on then, ok by me, I need more beauty sleep than most
This little honey has been cooking but is now down to about 460 degrees. Room temperature is at 84 though so no problem. Just makes life a little sweeter.
