Are you kidding? They are camping out for three days to get a new phone cause there old one is four months old. Me, I have a four year old flip phone I don't use much at all. No texting, no media, I just answer and talk. Kinda the way a phone used to work.

I remember walking the dog in the bush a number of years back. There was lots of wet snow on the trees, melting real fast. I had/have a marmot gore-tex shell that I used for climbing and skiing. I had my flip phone in the pocket not zipped up. It filled full of water and killed my phone. I went to get another and my wife in her infinite wisdom told me I should get a phone that I can text on. I disagreed with her saying Ive had 4 texts all year and they were from my brother. I was so wrong. Shortly after I got the phone I was getting texts all over the place from clients, family, co workers etc. Enter Seans new world..... being exposed to smart phones. Being a realtor/property manager its a must for me. Besides I can text clients while Im ice fishing, falling trees etc and they think Im in the office. :seasoned::axe::saw:

Texts are just bothersome to me. Call me. I don't have a business so I can be disconnected from the madness.:loco:

Don't think that I'm knocking it, no way. I just am in a place when no one needs to call me, or cares what I have to say. My kids are all connected 24/7. I'm just glad I'm not. You have a job that requires it and that's great to be able to use technology to help you. if that was my case, I'd starve.:handshake:

Im not thinking that in the least friend but thank you, in fact I envy your position. I remember being out on a lake in my 12 ft aluminum fly fishing mid week a few years back and a couple of old fellas sauntered by asking if I was unemployed and I told them I was self employed. It has its advantages and disadvantages. The disadvantage is that Im always connected to clients with a cell phone, email, texting, the advantage is no one tells me when coffee break is!

Although "on demand everything" is the new normal for many this country, I am not yet convinced its a good thing. Most people no longer are capable of getting away from things since they cannot be without their "lifeline".

A week ago, one of my brothers (who is more like me in this sense) lost his phone for a day-said it was the most peaceful day he has had in a long time

I don't doubt that for a second. Maybe he will choose to put it down once in a while now, if he can remember how good he felt before.

just because something is illegal wont stop people from doing it,thats why many laws dont work,or they just reduce the charge or dismiss it

Actually he is more like me and could do very well without one-probably wouldn't miss it much. Its a basic phone for calls and text....nothing fancy. Mine is a smart azz phone primarily because it gets better reception than the old flip phone did and my area sux for reception. My data is always turned off because I have the smallest plan possible and that is due to being forced to have the data. Worst thing someone can do is leave a message for me on the cell phone. Its usually in my truck and I may not check messages for days.
