Thanks, no TV in that room, and its amazing how much more people just hang out and talk. We do have one, but its downstairs and requires some effort to go watch it. There is a book case on a wall not pictured there, so we either chat with folks or read mainly in that room. And if you build a fire, almost everyone hangs out there!
Thanks! We wanted to do real stone, but didn't want the weight, and we wanted stuff native to PA if we could find it, so we found this place that sold what they called PA Field Stone. It is about 2 inches think on average, then got some slate locally for the flat part. I put in an outside air feed, so it doesn't draw quite as much warm air from the house when the glass doors are shut, but even so I could never heat very much with it. Still pulls a lot of air, and we like to burn with the doors open and just the screen so we can hear and smell the fire.
