I am sure a few of you folks have similar neighbours...

I have known them, they have been friends with my parents, since I was in high school. Their daughter asked my to prom. One day they moved in across the street. They have both been on disability for years and have never had any job more that part time since ive known them. They really remind me of the nosy neighbour lady on Bewitched.

Anyway, Dad sent me a text message yesterday telling me that they were up town complaining about all of our firewood and that I had a pallet of it on the sidewalk (I have on near the sidewalk, not on).

So naturally I went over and talked to them about it and naturally they denied it. BUT THEN they start complaining about my brother's firewood! So they told me that they weren't talking about mine behind my back and then immediately start talking about my brother's behind his. Mmhmm, sure you arent talking behind my back.

Anyway, I'm used to it and we are friends with the mayor and all his siblings. The mayor burns wood, his brother let us cut in his grove last year so I don't expect any mandate. Stuff just gets old...

All I can say is next time the power goes out and it's 10 degrees out, and your nice and warm, don't answer the door! :D They'll get the message!

Yep, they were also having trouble wrapping their heads around how much it takes to get through a winter. They think 11 cord will last my brother the rest of his life. As far as I know he isn't fighting cancer

What about neighbors that steal your wood and burn it in their fire pit?

In our neighbourhood those types of neighbours have to be identified. Especially when it was mulberry!

Thats exactly why I DON'T have neighbors. Too many people spend too much time worrying about what others do & say. That is a prime reason to move out in the country. I am lucky as I have 37 acres of pure bush between myself and the next property.

Here in town I'm very lucky to have great neighbors on north & south of me.North is couple in mid 60's,they've lived there for probably 30+ years,he's a retired CPA/comptroller for small local nursing home, purple heart Vietnam vet,had both lungs replaced in fall 2011 & his 32 yr old son donated a kidney late last winter. He's got more guns & ammo in those 2 huge safes than I've ever seen & is just a peach of a guy.

South is a young couple early-mid 30's with lots of tattoos (he's part owner of a tattoo/piercing shop, also a t shirt printing business),have a 3yr old daughter that's smarter than most 10 yr olds,3 big friendly dogs,a 6yr old very friendly huge black male cat they named Scuzz that started hanging around in 2007 before he was full grown.Scuzz is so friendly that 2-3 times a month he even comes in my house, wanders through the main floor as if to say howdy to my own 2 older large male cats.:D They usually just ignore him, sometimes they rub noses & look each other over but are used to each other now no one feels 'threatened'. Its quite hilarious really LMAO

Lots of times in warmer months we will spend time chatting with a few beers & some grub over the fence or on their steps/back deck.We all count on each other to watch the houses when the other family is on vacation or out of town for a while. So its nice to have people you can trust for once. That can be rare nowadays.

Don't know a thing about neighbor to my east, just a young couple with 1 or 2 kids, they keep to themselves pretty much.

If it is past the point of killing them with kindness, make sure they can see your stacks from every window they possibly can. Maybe a firewood privacy fence is in order? Or tune your chainsaw during their family dinner time.

Just a thought, not really a good one, but I came up with something.

My neighbors get a weird look on their face when we talk about firewood. Its the same look I get on my face when speaking to a kid who is mentally handicapped.

No such term anymore, it's been replaced with "intellectually disabled." It also afflicts adults.

We have one, like most folks do. This fellow constantly talks about the bad side of everything, especially of people. Even his so-called best friend. I constantly hear all of his faults. The way I look at it is that if someone talks about other people's faults constantly like that, when you are not there they are no doubt talking about your faults too. We sort of put up with it as we are talking about a neighbor and a relative.... There is no sense in arguing with folks like this; it does no good at all.
