I had to run out in the snow covered yard to get my 6 month old lab William as he was venturing too far and not listening. I was wearing my slippers, so they got soaked and cold.

Here I'm heating and drying them out on some hickory splits. Hickory is in the quad. 71 IAT, 26 OAT, dropping to 13 tonight. Hickory. Beech, and ironwood on tap.

Warm, dry slippers soon as well. :)

Down here our big hills are moraines, left by the glaciers after they retreated in the last ice age. Some are pretty tall.

0F here under a clear night and its time for a reload. Some fir and lodgepole will do the trick.

My wife complained it was to cold in the house so I had to turn on the furnace :hair: Temperature in the middle of the house was 69F but who know what it is where she is which just happens to be the furthest point in the house from the stove. Guess I let the reload drag out to long:doh:

Yeah I agree. Thats what I tell myself. Natural gas is pretty cheap and since the furnace is an original (1983) its good to get it turning once in awhile. Also my house can reach a more even temperature for a change. That old thing is noisy!

26 here right now, temps should hold around there all night. Just loaded the stove with walnut, that's a first for me. Lit up nice and is holding temps well. See what the stove looks like in the morning.

I almost brought a load of locust and oak up but didn't want to get into the good stuff yet.

The walnut I have sucked!! It seemed to only put out 80% of the heat of the oak.

I'm with you Bert. We were cool here today as well. We got as high as 10f I think and were now at -3f. Here's a pic of the exhaust an hour or so into a reload today. Burning nice and hot with no smoke! image.jpg

18 now, but supposed to get to 28 with sunshine today!!
Yesterday had a breeze all day-just enough to make the wind chill factor miserable.
Looks like some cooler weather coming up in the extended guess-cast.
