    What about sanding the cooking surface for a smoother surface ? Bad idea ?

    People have done that. That's why they were machined originally. Nothing says you can't, it's a trial and error. If your going to collect the pan, it's now junk, and worthless. Can you cook on it, sure. The objective is to "NOT" remove the original surface area.

    I just picked this one up today from my parents. It belonged to my grandmother. Any thoughts on the brand? I read that manufacturers made unbranded pans to be sold at hardware stores, Sears and Montgomery Wards.

    Picked up the Lodge 3.2 quart pan/lid combo at wally world the other night. Went to 3 different ones before I found it.

    I like this size pan for eggs. They don't go running all over the place like a larger fry pan.
